Syzygium jambolanum

Post by Carol Orr »

Does anyone have experience or knowledge of using syz in potency or as herbal
tincture regarding diabetes or prediabetic states. Is it possible to have a
good effect just taking daily drops of the herbal tincture?

No personalexperience
but, here is a case presented by Robert Ellis Dudgeon:
Syzygium jambolanum (Syzyg.) (Syz,)

Eugenia jambolana, Janbul
Dudgeon (H. W., xxiv. 540) relates this case :

A scientific man, 56, complained of "Prickly Heat" all over upper part of body and arms.

The skin was covered with small red papules, which itched so intensely he could get no rest.
He felt very weak, which was perhaps due to his having abstained from all animal food, and confined himself to bread, farinaceous food, vegetables, and fruit.
There was much thirst and great flow of urine, which he was obliged to pass every two hours, night and day; mouth very dry.
Urine 1036, very saccharine.
He was ordered chiefly animal diet, very little bread, and no sugar.
Syz. j, mixed with three times the quantity of alcohol, was given; of this two drops every three hours.
The specific gravity of the urine steadily declined, sugar disappeared, and all the symptoms passed off; and this in spite of the fact that the dietetic rules were relaxed.

I tried many years ago, both in tincture and in potency, used 30C at that time, no positive results.

That being said, I heard from other practitioners that they had good results.

It will be difficult to evaluate clearly as nobody, to my knowledge at least, has used it on its own, without dietary modification, lifestyle changes and probably other remedies.

I do know it is widely used in Ayurvedic medicine, but again probably (not really sure) not on its own, and if it is the sole remedy, is it curative?

Joe.
