Off Topic: Off Topic subjects

Recently Soroush told me to write "OT" in my subject headings if the topic was off topic. And I am on eternal moderation. And recently people started to complain that we weren't talking enough purely homoeopathy.

These items make me want to explain why I am here. I admit that I am no homoeopath, although I have been a homoeopathic booster since before some of you were born. But if someone wanted a homoeopathic prescription, I would refer them to ABCHomeopathy or someone here. I am no homeopath. So, why am I here?

I am here because this is the only place that I can find intelligent, intuitive, and grounded people, people who have their heads in the clouds and their feet firmly planted on the ground, people who are epistemologically insightful, and who are interested in health. Everywhere else I go, it seems like I have to talk down to people who either have their heads in the clouds but aren't grounded, or people who are grounded but are unintuitive.

I frequent www.e-catworld.com. Golly those guys are sharp. They have insight into nuclear physics, economics, social policy, engineering, science in general, etc. etc. etc. But when it comes to health, almost all of them are utterly clueless. And they have just enough intuition to realize that cold fusion is worth a second look. I think that it is the intuition thingie that makes for wisdom. I like to call it "paradigm shifting nimbleness".
