Does anyone have any ideas about stabbing side pain

A relative in his late 70s Developed stabbing pain in the far right side of his torso after experiencing a fall.not sure of the two are connected but it hurts a lot.any ideas of remedies?

I think you need to know what it is first. I would imagine it's some organ thing, prompted by the trauma of the fall, but otherwise unrelated.
