Slow Let down of breast milk
My daughter in law is telling me she has a slow let down of milk . Her daughter is 8 months old now and it started about 2 months ago and baby can get very frustrated waiting for the milk to come in. She does pump as well and it happens with a manual pump but not with the electric which has 2 minutes prep time. She says she had it with the last child as well. I just wondered if anyone had any idea of a remedy which may help with this. She responds very well to homeopathic remedies although I have never tried to find a constitutional for her.
Thanks

Drink plenty of water, eat oatmeal, eat milk chocolate, eat garlic, fenugreek, carrots, fennel, unsalted nuts, sesame seeds, ginger snap cookies (made with real ginger), blessed thistle herb, or marshmallow herb. There is also a recipe online for Lactation cookies.
Chocolate really works quickly.

Thanks Carole- she knows the Lactation cookies recipe well!!
She is not short of milk as she is presently pumping 1.3 litres a day as well as what the baby takes by breast. It is the let down which is slow and baby gets upset and bites and keeps coming off the breast until the milk comes through!! She pumps for the nanny to give to baby when she is at work and also gives the milk to her 3 yr old by cup twice a day.

Re: Slow Let down of breast milk
Would that be an issue of relaxation? I wonder if she were to get ready for nursing by doing something relaxing (even a few minutes of stretching and deep breathing, maybe?), then a few minutes of just cooing at the baby, something to get her relaxed, "in her body" and focused in a relaxed way on her sweet babe?
Is she a relaxed sort of person in general, or is her life rather high-stress?
Just ruminating...

Hi Shannon,
Yes she is a high stress person - despite the fact she is on holiday at the moment. Baby is teething again and the 3 yr old has a mixture of an intermittent fever she started with last week and jet lag!! Was it you who mentioned chocolate ? She loves that and will love that suggestion

Thanks Sanjay - do you know from clinical experience that this works?
We are all in Spain at the moment but I may be able to get some as every pharmacy here seems to sell remedies.

Re: Slow Let down of breast milk
