Holism thought police report

Post by Roger B »

Holism is the idea that natural systems (physical, biological, chemical, social, economic, mental, linguistic , etc.) and their properties should be viewed as wholes, not as collections of parts. Reductionism is the opposite of holism and is the view that says that a complex system can be explained by reduction to its fundamental parts. I am more than the sum of my parts. Reductionistic health thought is the CURSE of the modern world.

Health is most benefited by a holistic perspective. But a holistic perspective must necessarily also include a focusing on parts (reductionistic). But the reductionistic perspective does not have to include a holistic view, as is demonstrated by modern pharmaceutically oriented medicine.

The Life Extension Foundation researches and sells lots of very high quality, natural supplements. And occasionally they have articles in their very glossy and well written magazine written from a holistic perspective. But everything that they sell and most of their articles are what I call partialistic or non-holistic. They are basically semi-enlightened pill pushers. I will occasionally read one of their articles and very occasionally buy one of their products. But remember, dear ones, they are basically semi-enlightened pill pushers.

In contrast to the Life Extension Foundation is http://www.greenmedinfo.com/ . The owner and founder of this website is Sayer Ji. He talks like a reductionists. He talked about evidence based medicine, which is usually a definite keyword for reductionists. But his vision is definitely holistic. Sayer's articles are ALWAYS about the most holistic and cheapest way to do things. I heartily recommend Sayer Ji and his website. I do not believe that it is a coincidence that Sayer Ji has a B.A. in Philosophy. He is a master of perspective.
Sincerely,
Roger Bird
