PREVENTING ILL EFFECTS OF A CONSTITUTIONAL REMEDY

Post by Rafy Hadary »

Hi,

As a constitutional remedy, a person took Silica 30c.

After a few hours he started having a severe sore throat and that developed to a coryza, coughing and expectoration.

All that passed yesterday - after 2 weeks.

Now he wants to continue with the Silica 30c, but he is afraid to take it from fear that he will get again the same "acute" disease that he previously just had after the rx.

Is it possible that he will be ill "acutely" again after taking Silica (from it)?

How can he avoid this risk and still take the Silica?

Many thanks for your helpful reply.

It is not a given that he will have the same response.
It is important to distinguish between a proving response and an aggravation which may
be a healing.
Why does he want to take the remedy again? Was there healing going on?
Is he a very sensitive person? Perhaps a lower potency would be better?
Try the remedy in water as opposed to dry and shake a few times before each new dose.
Just some possibilities but the case needs to be evaluated properly for a decision to be made

Hi Rafy,

Although we usually think of "aggravation" as happening when a remedy is given too *high*, 30c does not seem high, and I have also seen a similar kind of thing when I have given a remedy too low -- as tho the VF sees what's needed and is trying to do it, but hasn't been given quite enough of a boost. On the other hand I have found the low potencies (6 and 12) to be very friendly.

So depending on the details of the case -- is his sensitivity extremely high, or pretty normal? -- either going for a while on repeated doses of 6 or 12 might be an easy option.

Hi Shannon,
An aggravation is an increase of one's existing symptoms, a proving might include those but also rubrics of the remedy.
For example, I took Phos 200C in water. Initially felt good, but after a few doses I noticed a burning sensation upon touch in the vaginal area which disappeared after stopping.
That seems to have been a proving of Phos.
If I success my LM constitutional more than 6 times, sometimes I'll get an aggravation of overstimulation and/or noticeable increase in blood sugar or a fatigue which signifiesreduce next dose succussions.
Recently I had a roughness, hardening and cracking of skin with one bloody opening on the outside of the left index finger, then a few days later it appeared on the right index finger. I think that may have been a proving of Tub K as it has happened before but only on one finger.
It goes away in a week as I go back to the constitutional LM.
Then there are strong skin rashes like prickly heat I'll occasionally get soon after taking too large a dose of remedy or first dose of next LM potency of current remedy.
Then there are healing crises...
Once you get the hang of it, you'll know whether to stop, reduce, wait or change next dose or remedy.

Hi Shannon,
