A very weird symptom
A mother and her son do share this weird one: anxiety after eating
broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower or Brussels sprouts, which they actually
love to eat, but avoid for that reason....
Definitely a very specific, special, rare, peculiar symptom.
Has anyone encountered that anywhere???
Joe.

Re: A very weird symptom
I think you have to find out what exactly it is that they are anxious about and when in the process of eating it this happens. Is it fear of bugs in the brassica? When did it begin in mother as son could just be copying it. Are there any other brassica that they will eat e.g. kale. Where in their bodies do they feel the anxiety? Does it happen if the brassica is disguised in a dish and they are not aware that it is there. Do they get this same anxiety feeling at any other time? (It could be an association) I would actually use EFT to get to the bottom of this one and those are questions that I would ask.

Re: A very weird symptom
Hello Joe,
Doesn't the cabbage family affect the thyroid hormone? My daughter is hypo thyroid, now on replacement hormone and was told to avoid that family. She loves broccoli.
Perhaps they are more sensitive to thyroid issues and the braccias are indirectly causing the thyroid to malfunction just enough to cause some of those cardiac sx that could be interpreted as anxiety?
Just an early morning thought.
Warmly, Maria

wonder what is going on physiologically that might create this symptom?

Re: A very weird symptom
Not exactly. But a thought occurs:
Anxiety is the first symptom of anaphylactic reaction. And the tendency to allergic responses to sulpur/sulphites does tend to run in families.
It runs in mine. My older son also cannot eat those items, (and we both like them) or any sulphited food either.
(And I have a very severe reaction to homeopathic Sulph as well, can't go near it.)
Namaste,
Irene

Of course Sulphur came to my mind too.
There is a rubric Gens, Food & Drink Cauliflower Agg
That plus the type of anxiety may narrow the range a bit!
Good luck

PS I have broadcasted it to all contacts!

Re: A very weird symptom
Anxiety is not necessarily an "anxious about" situation; it can also be caused by allergic reaction, which kicks the adrenals, which kick out excess adrenaline, which raises the BP and etc. etc., and -- causes the sensation of anxiety.

Nothing of that......they eat it in any form, a sensation of anxiety in undetermined form, sets in.
I just want to know if anybody has encountered that association.
Joe.

Yes, it does, it is a goitrogenic food that prevents iodine absorption if eaten in large quantities and with a lack of iodine in the diet.
Nothing like that here, it is an "acute" presentation. No "cardiac" symptom, just undefined "anxious" feeling. And no thyroid issues..........
It is a typical "food aggravates" symptom with no physiological explanation that I can come up with...SRP...
