Additives in food

Roger, you make a good point about additives in food. Hahnemann always said if you don't deal with maintaining causes then homeopathy won't help in the long term.
My husband has recently been diagnosed with hairy cell leukaemia. He had a couple of mis-diagnosis, but they are certain of their findings this time. I felt angry, because I didn't know how he could have got it. Well, whenever I feel wound up like that, I usually 'sleep on it'. The first thing I did when I got up next morning was do a computer search on 'sweeteners'. I was so shocked by what I found out.
Doesn't matter what the name is: Nutrasweet, Splenda, etc. etc. etc. - it's all the same, BUT the most dangerous of all is Aspartame. It's used as an 'healthy' alternative to sugar. From all I've read, it's like a timebomb about to go off. And I notice on the TV here in the UK that the cancer charity MacMillan's are advertising an awful lot. At one time you would hardly notice an advertisement from them.
I also notice a lot of pubs selling Premium lemonade. I looked at the ingredients of the bottle when I was in the supermarket and sure enough Aspartame was listed. How many people know this? It's in confectionery, certain crisps, most all soft drinks. Sometimes it doesn't go by the name of Aspartame, but will be found as E951. It's really frightening when you consider how much food and drink is out there that contains this substance.

It takes a long time for the effects of aspartame to take effect. People who drink a lot of it may start off with symptoms of diarrhoea and headaches, or limb aches in general. Doctors may put it down to a virus or cold or flu or something like that. People think aspartame doesn't affect them and that it's safe to drink because they've probably been drinking the stuff for years. But it develops over time and those who think they are safe from it will find out they aren't - usually too late!
So that's food and drink.
What about medication : http://euphory.com/medications-containing-aspartame/ -
Lemsip, would you believe it? I know loads of people drink that when they've got a cold.
Throat lozenzes.
There's 81 products on that list.
http://www.janethull.com/newsletter/070 ... artame.php - loads more here, including vitamins and mineral supplements; a lot being aimed at children.
And recently, March 2013, the Daily Mail Online published the following: (they've been trying to get aspartame banned since 2005) - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... tener.html
Whilst Aspartame might be the most dangerous, they are still using MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) in food, another known neuro-toxin. And other substances as well that are just as controversial.
This is just the tip of the iceberg.
My husband always avoided sugar, thinking alternatives were better.
Needless to say, everything has now been thrown out that contains any additives, but particularly sweeteners.
Regards
Christine
