Economics and homeopathy

Post by Roger B »

I think that there should be two currencies in the USA, but of course this suggestion will be opposed and perhaps for good reason. There would be a necessity currency and a desire currency. The NC would be acceptable for all necessities, like food, basic shelter, warmth, emergency health care. The government would give NC out to people. Real communism. The other would be desire currency. DC would be for everything else, including anything above basic shelter, restaurants, investments, boats, expensive cars, etc. In other words, not capitalism and socialism side by side and intermeshed like what we have now, but capitalism on top of a communism base. I don't know if people can wrap their minds around this. And of course there would be an unfortunate intermingling of the two.

I am sure that someone will come along and shoot this idea down. But we already have socialism and capitalism intermeshed with lots of crony-capitalism and corruption.

But where would homeopathy go, or raw milk. Who is to say what is a necessity and what is a desire. My homeopathy is a necessity, for me. Some materialistic skeptic will surely say that my homeopathy is a desire, a frivolity, pure nonsense.

Need to read more on the Farm Bill which, as usual, is very controversial. Food stamps took
a big hit. Presumable there is program consolidation. Chris Gibson, my Rep in Congress, wrote
a long letter to my contacting him. He listed all these decent sounding things he supported in
the bill, with no mention of what he didn’t support. However, the devil is in the details and he
avoided all of those. I suspect is all bodes ill for small farmers, organic farmers and the public.

True, about big agri. Small farms just can't compete unless they are subsidized, which I agree with.
