Question - electrical burns

Post by Cathy Lemmon »

I have a very quick question, that I may already know the answer to, regarding electrical burns.
Are these treated the same way as other burns (e.g. burns from scalding water or sunburn)?
In other words, approach these where they’re at—like starting with warm water? Or is there another approach to this?
I have seen and treated some pretty major burns homeopathically (a couple of these being my own. . . . . .)—these have been burns from items such as boiling water, hot grease, and a wood burning stove. But several years ago, a very near relative was burned very severely in the services when his parachute was blown into some power lines. And I have wondered if the homeopathic approach for this kind of burn would be the same.
Thank you in advance.

We still need the whole symptom picture and there will be more symptoms than just localized burn symptoms.
Emotional symptoms very significant too

And probably start with something like Aconite for the shock of it all, or something else if he is in total collapse/shock - but just depends on where the symptoms are/what the symptoms, where you go with it. May have to do emergency life saving type remedies along with trauma care

You will have a much bigger scenario to work with as far as symptoms go.

How is that relative now? What injuries resulted from that?

Thanks for your response, Sheri.

And, of course, taking the entire symptom picture into account will be the first necessary step. But, at the same time, in my relative's case, his burns were so severe that a lot of calls had to be immediately made, as his very life was in jeopardy.

Aconite does make absolute sense-- and probably would have helped my relative, had I known about homeopathy then (this was nearly twenty years ago). I would definitely like to know more about emergency life saving remedies. Certainly these will be on a case-by-case basis. In my relative's case, probably a high potency aconite could have been great to have had on hand.

My relative lost half of a foot as well as half a hamstring as a result of this accident. They also had to stitch up a large portion of his body as well. He was in the ICU (actually an ICU unit that was even more ICU-- I'm forgetting the actual term for it) for nearly a month at a special armed forces hospital that apparently has the best burn center around. It really was a dangerous scene for him for a while. He also had/has a lot of difficult background in his pathology. But I really think the severe electrical burn-- while underneath, it may have, to a degree, been complicated by his underlying pathology-- was trauma in and of itself.

I do not live anywhere close to this relative today, so I do not know how he is from day to day. I know he is married and has two sons. But he holds a steady job and seems, perhaps on the surface, to be doing well despite his horrible injury.

Again, thank you for your input, Sheri.
