vaikuntanath das-kaviraj has passed
I am sorry to inform you that we have lost an indominitable homeopathic man,
Vaikanunthanath das-Kaviraj. Kaviraj has almost single-handedly developed
the science of homeopathy’s use in plants and agriculture. He passed a few hours
ago. He will be sorely missed by those of us who learned from him and used
his teachings in our gardens and fields. He was a straight shooter and had a
broad understanding of the world we live in, working to educate and create
change thru a number of arenas.

That’s a really big question for a man who was so versatile.
He almost single-handedly, if not single handedly, created the
study of homeopathy in gardening and agriculture. In the past few
years he was involved in solving the ash tree borer devastation. It
was only last year that he was in Canada working on this problem
After the Haitian disaster he contributed there for several weeks,
raising his own funding for that trip. I watched him on youtube
this past year in Africa at a conference where he was teaching in the
field on working with plants.
Spending about 20 yrs in Australia developing his observations and
studies on working with plants, he suffered the government’s assault.
They basically created laws to try and financially ruin him but it took
burning him out to get him to leave that country. Obviously we are
looking at a man with great fortitude and fighting spirit.
He wrote the first book on homeopathy and gardening and agriculture.
And was so generous in sharing his information. I have a collection of
his posts to me on the many gardening problems that my garden suffers.
We also communicated politically. His politics were broad based and
very progressive. I felt him a kindred spirit in how we both viewed the world
and what is happening.
He treated himself for cancer successfully years ago and helped many others
in his practice. It is a great sadness that the disease reared its head again.
I found Kaviraj to be a straight shooter with little patience for BS. He read
extensively and had a long memory. We shared many of the same stomping
grounds in the 1970’s without knowing each other personally. I never met
him, but felt we were kindred spirits in many ways.
Why not go online and look him. There are many articles by and about him and
you can experience him on youtube.
His presence will be terribly missed.

Re: vaikuntanath das-kaviraj has passed
We had many lively discussions in animal forums.
We agreed on most things - pesticide issues and not liking "mixopathy" being called homeopathy for example - and we clashed on a few things (whether HIV exists for example). Mostly I respected his immense body of work and dedication to it, and his insistence that the Law of Similars is paramount in healing.
Kaviraj was also a regular contributor to monthly columns on www.hpathy.com and www.homeopathyplus.com.au featuring questions about plants and their solutions. At HPATHY, his short bio reads:
V.D. Kaviraj is a Dutch homeopath, author, researcher and pioneer in Agrohomeopathy. He is also Vice President, World Homoeopathic Association UK Chapter. He has written textbooks on various aspects of homeopathy including "Homeopathy for Farm and Garden", which is now available in seven languages. The revised and enlarged edition with 376 pages has just been published:
His USA tour planned mid-2011 was to address (in his words):
"Ash trees infested, bees dying. Farmers and pesticides, fungicides and herbicides. Book signings and some seminars on soil science. Pine trees infested also and Forestry Dept contacts, for both the ash and the pine. Bank of Canada for indoor tropical gardens, as well as botanical gardens in Toronto and Ottawa."
His work and interests also flowed over into animal homeopathy. For example, we had a discussion on Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) flame retardant toxins - they get into everywhere, including dry pet foods during manufacture and I got quite an education from Kaviraj on that, with good refs.
He did participate in the veterinary forum at Hpathy and in some animal related email groups.
I also remember his mentioning that bees did not like a remedy he wished to try (made from varroa mite which attacks bees), and my ears pricked as I note also that cats detect remedy and express opinions or refuse remedy that they feel is wrong for them.
He will be much missed in the homeopathic community, but he left quite a legacy of new knowledge from his life's work.
Namaste,
Irene

Yes, a very small tip.
Look his name up online and read some of the articles on him that come up.
They will be better than what I wrote.

I also was very upset to hear about Kavi on facebook. What a man!! What a personality.
The last time I ate with him was at the Welsh Conference a couple of years ago. I have to say I was unaware of his battle with cancer but he was so very thin when I saw him then. We had a great correspondence privately on facebook - I was just re reading it last night. He was so generous with his knowledge which is something that not all knowledgeable people are. We had great political arguments in which we usually agreed to disagree. He is a great loss to the homeopathic fraternity as there is no one I know of who is able to carry on his good work.
