Hello Rochelle
I’m afraid we have had a lot of conflicting messages from Seven Seas (the manufacturers of New Era) over the last few months, but what we do know for certain is that the whole range of tissue salts have been discontinued; at least for the time being.
If we understand their position correctly, it is a matter of deciding whether it is economically viable to re-licence the whole range. After all, it is a low-cost item and these licences are formidably expensive so it would take a very long time indeed to recoup such an outlay. However, we have been given the glimmer of hope that they may decide in favour of paying the price and bringing them back – in which case, we are probably looking at a period of 6 – 12 months before we see them again.
Please feel free to complain to your local MP/MEP – the rules come from Europe, but the draconian interpretation comes from the UK. No other country as far as I am aware has taken the legislation on to this degree. They seem not to care that they are effectively closing down businesses and putting people on the dole. If it was a matter of safety it would be a different matter, but this is simply a very expensive paper exercise costing companies millions of pounds at a very vulnerable economic time.
If you need further clarification, I would suggest you contact Seven Seas on 0800 072 8777, or write to them at Hedon Road, Marfleet, Hull HU9 5NJ. If nothing else, they may be persuaded to remove the claims from their products (eg just call it ‘Mag Phos No 8’, but remove any claims regarding cramps etc) – that way they could keep selling the products with a modified label until licences were obtained.
Good luck!
Best wishes

Did you know that Merck has taken over the making of the Era products?

If that is a German company yes – but it is doubtful if they will be interested in selling them in UK
