You're right. I read somewhere that the ordinary sugar we're used to having is bleached. Nothing wrong, though, with raw cane or unrefined.

All sugar is an inflammatory in the body and thus is not good.
The raw, organic sugar at least has a bit of nutrition to help digest it.
Forget where I read it today that the raw forms of carbs digest slower
so they slow down the production of cortisol and thereby they slow
down the working of the adenals. But that is not an endorsement for
eating sugar
