Is Sugar Toxic? (Cancer, Heart Disease, Obesity)

Post by healthinfo6 »

Refined sugar is absolutely toxic and I can not eat any since I get immediate negative reactions, weight gain which has been a lifelong miasmatic inherited condition.
I do not have any problems with organic sugar, evaporated cane juice, natural sugar from fruit and vegetables, other than the total amount of carb limited due to diabetes.
As mentioned in the video, too much HFCS, high fructose corn syrup overwhelms the liver and is converted to bad LDL.
By taking fat out of the standard Western diet based on flawed scientific dietary conclusions leading to USA Gov't regulations, it has been replaced with more HFCS and other refined sugars which is one reason obesity, cancer, heart disease are on increase and the INCREASE of insulin results in INCREASED cancer as certain tumors, breast, colon, have insulin receptors that are stimulated to increase glucose absorption.
Sugar is also addicitive, may act like cocaine in the brain releasing dopamine, causing pleasure and you become tolerant to it, thus less reward you feel, causing you to eat more to feel the pleasure, like a drug addict.
A ketogenic diet, like the Atkins diet, where you eat NO carbs/sugar to induce ketosis, can show you how addicted you might be to sugar and how hard it is for some to withdraw from sugar.
Refined sugar, HFCS are worse because they cause a greater spike in insulin than natural sugar consumed in natural form.
Sanjay Gupta reports on new research showing that beyond weight gain, sugar can take a serious toll on your health, worsening conditions ranging from heart disease to cancer.

Interesting observation!
When you say you are okay with organic sugar -- doesn't that also refer to a refined product, tho one beginning from a better (organic) source? I have always avoided it on that assumption -- it looks so white!

Organic sugar is much less refrined and uses no chemicals.
Evaporated cane juice is not refined whether organic or not.
Think white flour vs. whole wheat. white rice vs. brown, more refining removes more nutrients which is why white flour is usualy "enriched" with vitamins.
Various refined sugars are more refined than others, depends on what step in the process they sell it at.
Sugar in the Raw may be less refined than Domino sugar but Domino also sells organic sugar.
I tell everyone, even if you're not diabetic or have no obvious health conditions now, use organic sugar for coffee, drinks, baking, etc. so you can reduce heart disease and other sugar related later in life illnesses.
There could be a huge turnaround in health if refined sugar was replaced with much less refined or organic. I've been lobbying Whole Foods to standardize on evaporated cane juice as they use various sweeteners in their products and baked goods. They won't allow products with artificial sweeteners to be sold in their stores but will allow refined sugar products to be sold.
Refining and Processing Sugar - has flowchart showing how many steps involved in refining sugar, molasses and various sugar products come at different stages. The final stage is the highly refined white sugar.
