baby not talking

I am looking for information regarding ear tubes in a baby.
The doctor wants to insert them because the baby is not developing speech
She is 17 mos old now and barely says anything.
Also, she seems to always be nasal. The MD thinks she is not draining her
sinuses and it is causing blurred hearing so she is not talking.
I am concerned that she is always nasal and think it is more diet and toxins.
I am also concerned about ear tubes and need information that would provide
alternatives. The diet is not good but it could be worse. They think they are
feeding her well but I rarely see veggies in the refrig altho they do give her fruit.
