It’s an interesting article in many ways because it brings to light the potentially harmful effects of preventing or avoiding specific childhood illnesses which could leave those children at greater risk of other diseases later in life.
When I talk to most people about disease, especially orthodox medics, their view is always that disease is a bad thing and needs to be treated immediately .... but I remember discussing in Homeopathic Philosophy lectures how the body/VF can develop a susceptibility for a type of dis-ease that it needs in order to ‘move forward / develop’ etc.
So my question is .... how do you judge whether the disease is beneficial / helpful to the patient? Or whether it is harmful and needs treating?
Cheers,
Andy

And finally, are children too clean for their own good? Apparently so, if a new study published in
the Journal of Clinical Investigation and covered by the Press Association
and the Daily Telegraph is anything to go by.
US and Japanese scientists found that a childhood dose of flu could help protect against asthma,
leading Dr Dale Umetsu, of the Harvard Medical School in Boston, US, to conclude: 'Our results
suggest that infection with certain micro-organisms can prevent the subsequent development of asthma
and allergy by expanding the relative proportion of a specific subset of NKT cells, thus providing
an immunological mechanism for the hygiene hypothesis.'
The only caveat? The study occurred in an experiment with mice. But baby mice are DEFINITELY too
clean for their own good...
