Animosity and hostility / An ethical challenge to combination prescribers /

Hello to all!

You know, it seems that while we in the Homeopathic Community have opposition with the "Powers that be...", in the Mainstream Medical and Political realm, They really don't have so much to worry about, as we shoot our own! "Friendly Fire"!

I'm amazed as well as exhausted at the level of "emotional health" we see on public display in these forums - from the very ones our friends and loved ones go to..... to regain their health! Ha! If the public only knew what venom and hostility spews out of the mouths of those "so called Health Practitioners", they'd run the other direction!

You know, I have made some posts this past month about various subjects.... and some practitioners agreed, while others did not. You know, that's pretty typical in Life as a whole. But, within the group of those practitioners who did not agree with my posts, Some were pleasant, helpful in giving other information I hadn't considered, other educational references and books to read, While still others made the Conscious choice to pick fights, keep fights going, assassinate character, ( not just disagree with the actual topic at hand), and when the other practitioner is so exhausted from being ripped to shreds that they don't respond.... the practitioner continues to badger, jab, kick, turn the knife, and try to publicly humiliate the others who don't hold the same world view they do! This is obscene!

I was listening to Alastair Gray, Thursday evening on the NCH's Teleconference series (They're excellent by the way!) and he was describing working with drug addicts and alcoholics, and finding that a lot of his pre-conceived ideas and training weren't delivering the results that these patients needed. He had to look into case management in a broader perspective, and do things a little more creatively than what was his normal comfortable style he'd been used to.

When I asked him about his reference to organ remedies, and other methods that helped his patients so much, he referred me back to my first love in Homeopathy; Dr. John Compton Burnett! Wow! A Blast from the Past! I need to get my copy of The Best of Burnett out and re-read it again!

What I'm saying is: There are ways to get one's point across without destroying the other person. There's ways of broadening a person's perspective without insulting their narrow mindedness. We can disagree about topics, and some about methodology, even a bit about theology,..... without going for the throat. This is so vindictive and hurtful. Words actually DO Heal, and Words actually DO Kill! Words have Meaning. Words are very, very powerful. If we only knew the power of the Tongue.... we'd be amazed!

If someone offends us.... We CAN take the high road and go to them in PRIVATE (gasp), and address the specific issue that's on the table. We don't have to try to kill their self -esteem , confidence, reputation and who they are, just to prove a point.... That we know more and are more experienced.

My background is in Sales and Marketing. I learned a long time ago that to make a sale, I should NEVER criticize my competition, and try to slander them, and create hostility between them and myself. I merely need to sell the client on WHAT I Can do for them, that my competition can't/won't do. Possibly it doesn't even cost anything, other than being flexible... but it's selling the Benefits and not the Product. This technique was very successful.

Another thing I found was I could always tell the difference between 'Old Money' and 'New Money' as New Money always had an ego the size of a proverbial Texan's 10 gallon hat! Margret Thatcher said "If you have to tell the person you're a Lady, You probably aren't!" We all need to realize that Others are better at bolstering our reputation, than we are ourselves.

Give each other the benefit of the doubt, and know that Homeopathy is Bigger than we ourselves!

I'm sure if we could sit around a dining table together we would have a rip-roaring time and get on amazingly well - those interested in homeopathy usually do - .

I think we still struggle with anonymity of email.

Debate is great and shouldn't be suppressed - it helps us to examine our beliefs - but personal attacks are ugly.
