I think I mentioned this before, but DDT was used extensively in the 40's & 50's
And there is NO proof that polio was contagious to 'catch'
Polio was NEVER proven to be infectious
If more than one 'got' it in a family they got it at the same time
No doctor or nurse ever 'got' it from a patient.

Actually, there is plenty of proof that polio is contagious - this is exactly why they have stopped using the live 'sugar lump' oral vaccine: recently-vaccinated babies were giving polio to other people, either in swimming pools when they poohed in the water, or when someone changed their nappies and didn't wash hands properly afterwards.
So they have fairly recently switched to a dead, injectable vaccine.

Yes - it was the polio virus - and the people who got ill got polio from it, not just some vague disease!
