Coccyx injury
Coccyx injury
A friend's daughter felt down the stairs over a fortnight ago and is in constant pain at her coccyx- can't stand, lie down, sit for very long. I have given her Hypericum 200 - 3 dry doses and nothing. I have now told her to put one in water and plus it every hour, taking a sip for 10 doses.
Now I have a 1M but no higher. Does anyone think it is worth trying that. She told me she has been taking Arnica 30 , two or three a day despite nothing happening since falling. Obviously I told her to stop taking them.
I wish she had told me about it immediately rather than waiting until her baby (7 weeks) got cradle cap to contact me (1 dose Calc and it is much better today!!)

Re: Coccyx injury
My memory is that carbo animalis is specific for injuries to the coccyx--but I'm not able to look up the specific reference right now. Does that seem plausible?

What type of pain, what are the modalities, how does she react to the pain? Bellis?

Yes Carbo An came up in my search but I would imagine it would be for ulcers and open wounds there but I will just check!!!
Aha - I might well try this if the plussing does nothing. Will check with her if there is any burning. I have it up to a 10M!!!Thanks

Just found in Clarke under Mezereum
I didn't check that one out because I thought it would have been a rash!!

Re: Coccyx injury
Unfortunately the top potency I have in this Rx is a 1M and I don't reckon that is as dynamic as the 200

Re: Coccyx injury
For coccyx injuries I have a short list of 'don't forget to look at' remedies: Kali bich, Hypericum, Silicea and Causticum. However you might add Ars alb since you have the 'can't find a comfortable position' aspect.
I also have another quick reference list for lower back region:
sulpher - weakness and pain, worse when standing, better for cold
zinc - spasms, worse for cold, overstimulation of nervous system
arnsic - weakness, retless, periodicity, burning pain, right sided
causticum - stiffness, worse with cold or caugh, better for warmth of bed
nat mur - worse around 10am - trembling of hands
Also under cell salts - the specifics for coccyx pain are silica, calc phos, and nat sulph

Re: Coccyx injury
Yes - I do think it's worth trying higher - it's a terrible shock to the whole spine, so 1M seems appropriate.
I did the exact same thing when I was about 16 - didn't know anything about homeopathy, of course. Well, it took at least 20 years - a long, long time - before I could sit on a hard surface for more than 10 minutes without it hurting.
I wonder if she has cracked it? highly possible. Think about some of the other trauma injuries too - I would give her Arnica higher, plus Bellis Perennis, plus Symphytum long-term
Ian Watson suggests switching rx in this case - giving Hypericum first and then Arnica after if needed.

Re: Coccyx injury
Good thinking- I wonder if she has had an X ray. She is probably more concerned with her new born baby than herself.
I have just sent her the description from Clarke of Hypericum, Carbo An and Mez and she reckoned Mez is the most like the pain. I have it in a 200 so if the Hypericum plussing doesn't work - it's one to try!
She has taken a lot of Arnica albeit in 30C so I think I want to stay away from that at the moment.
