Comments on The New online course - Homoeopathic Facial Analysis with Grant Bentley

These are my comments on the course being offered by a classical homeopath, Grant Bentley. See the flyer below the comments.

I have been sending Grant and his wife, Louise, cases and my facial analysis. They are fantastic. Very down to earth, humble people. They tell me straight out, this is wrong because of this. Or a better way to do this is …..

By narrowing down the field of potential remedies using facial analysis, each case is much easier to figure out. The facial analysis method (HFA) is based on Hahnemann's miasms. Grant adds four combination miasms to the traditional three for a very good reason. The HFA method is based on evidence and clinical experience, not ideology. The repping is also classical. Grant repeats 30c everyday usually, but because the remedy is so accurate, there are no big aggravations. I am watching this happen currently with four patients in a row. My batting average was never this good. I started studying the method in September (reading the books then contacting Grant and Louise). I have one case that still stumps me, but I think I have the facial analysis wrong. So I have to get that one in to them. Four other cases are waiting to be sent in. I learn so much from each email about repping, facial analysis and case reporting. So, I put a lot of thought into each case before sending it in. (I have a really busy life)

My main goal in taking their course is to learn facial analysis. From the book, facial analysis looks pretty obvious. But in fact, there is a lot to it. Louise said to me, it takes about 8 email cases to really start to get the hang of it. I did not send in the first four cases that I did using my neophyte version of facial analysis. They seemed unambiguous and they really did go much better (the 4 cases above) than my norm. Actually then I did not know they would help me by email. I have never had so many cases that just go smoothly. No big aggravations (my major belly ache with homeopathy) but also slow steady progress. Return of old suppressed symptoms, yes, but even they are light and quick compared to my old way of doing it.

Talking to Grant, he was reminiscing that "the way I used to do homeopathy was like torture. With most cases struggling to remove one layer after another and aggravations constantly harass you. Then you would have that miracle case that you read about. You just can't quit homeopathy with a sprinkling of those kinds of cases. But you wished you could quit because normal classical homeopathy was just too hard. Those miracle cases caused me to feel that homeopathy was pure torture." I can hardly believe that I am having those miracle cases too. I asked him why his students don't work harder to tell others. He said "They think this is the way it is. They don't know anything else." So, it is not a miracle to them. But it is a miracle to me.

I am calling back old cases that stumped me or that just stopped improving. I don't have results yet, but I am looking forward to them. It is difficult to have people take their own photos. But I just tell them, "This one is not good enough. Do this." People cooperate and take a simple digital photo again. Not rocket science. Part of the learning curve is learning what a good photo is.
The way he arrived at this method to me feels like Grant is a normal classical homeopath thinking in the investigative mode. He looked at his photos of clients who used the classical remedies for the traditional miasms and looked for the facial feature (genetic features not facial expression). (He and Louise have 8 kids and clinic patients and a school.) Once he had those facial features categorized, he could begin comparing facial features of other less clearly defined remedies and place them in a miasmatic categories. As this work progressed, he began to see the non-pathological aspects of each miasm. This helped clinically, but was not as definitive as identification of miasmatic groups through facial analysis. If you look at his biographical information, you will see he has been teaching straight classical homeopathy much longer than he has done classical homeopathy with facial analysis (8 years). He is also a naturopath. I don't know, but I bet he does not depend on supplement sales for his income. He and Louise support their kids with homeopathy. That says a lot.

I am not ready to have a "fight to kill" debate over this. Let me take the course first and get more cases under my belt. Then we can have that polite debate. From my email exchanges with Grant and Louise, I am certain that I will learn a whole lot more than facial analysis. The course it is worth looking at. (See the ad below.)

By the way, I am trying to get Grant’s general readership book, Soul and Surviva,l translated and published in Japanese. That's why I am so involved with them. But my guess is I am being treated the way they approach all students.
The book is fun for the general public but if you understand the theoretical background from the other books, it is very useful. I was on the rampage looking for confirmatory methods because I was tired of the “torture” described above. I could not understand what he was doing from his various Youtube lectures and website info (VCCH). But I bought all three books anyway. Call it desperation. How fortunate! I thought the interview on Hpathy.com was insightful, but I found it after I had bought the books and was getting the idea. You need all three books to get the idea and to try it out. Appearance and Circumstance was written for homeopaths. Homœopathic Facial Analysis is a slightly simplified presentation of the technical details of facial analysis. Soul and Survival places that technical information in the larger context of human development, culture and philosophy. It is also a way to interest the general public in homeopathy. You can add the list of remedies from the VCCH website, the polychrests are listed in Appearance and Circumstance.
