I was singing a little song when I got this little gem below!
Truly,
Erica
Straight from the patient:
I can't breath - like a spasm in the throat - when you cough, you feel your throat - feel it stopping STOP - and then I can't get air in or out. There isn't even a cough. It takes a little bit before I can draw a breath in to cough. Spasming stops a little bit. Even when I cough, it's producing very little. Feels like I should produce more. I really have to cough way down deep to produce anything. I am doing a lot of that and a little cough with nothing there - just a throat irritation. My throat hurt bad on the left at first. Just the left. But that's all better now.
There is mucus right in that spot below my Adam's apple. Or it feels like there is and that makes me cough. Sometimes it feels dry in the throat. My throat is dry but the cough isn't dry. I'm not really thirsty but drinking water makes it feel better. It's weird, if I drink some water, I don't cough for awhile. I would get these real bad coughing jags and I would take 2-3 sips of water and then it would subside and I could get back to sleep. One night this week I woke up completely drenched in sweat. So much, I had to change my clothes. That has never happened to me before.
The fever isn't that bad but it keeps coming back. I think it's gone and then it comes back. I definitely feel worse around 4 in the afternoon. It seems like I just go down hill after 4. I don't know, but this afternoon, I have this funny taste in my mouth. It's just kind of blah. It's like when I was bringing up yellow phlegm - kind of like that. Sitting on my tongue. Not salty. Kind of yucky. Not bitter or anything. Feel like I want to rinse my mouth out. Almost like morning mouth. My tongue is all white, too. I guess the cough occurs more often when lying down but it is generally all the time.
