It's interesting to note in this context the studies that were done in
Eastern Europe before, or shortly after, the Berlin Wall came down. Western
scientists went there expecting to find enormously high incidence of asthma
given the horrendous industrial pollution prevalent in many areas. They
actually found that incidence was lower than a lot of much cleaner areas in
the west.

Dear Wendy,
Came across your post this a.m. Do you have any more info on this? Is there any info on the level of vaccination in that population or at the age of vaccination?

Hi Tanya
Ach ... you've got me there. This was a vague memory triggered by the
comments about asthma and atmospheric pollution. I think the article I read
might have been in one of the UK newspaper weekend supplements - likely the
Guardian, since that's the paper I usually read - but I couldn't tell you
exactly when. Probably at least 4 years ago. If that was the case, then I
very much doubt there would have been any reference to vaccination - not a
connection they would have made - and I certainly don't recall anything of
that nature.
Sorry I can't be of more help. However, there's probably some research about
somewhere on it - have you tried Medline?
