I was referring to something that happened a very long time ago on the original homeolist which we who made an alternative list called TOL.

Somehow the recent exchange sounded very much like TOL exchanges and I had in my own mischevious silliness made up a story about a small temple guard dog that barked and kept away all visitors to the temple and I asked for remedy suggestions and the response I got was overwhelmingly sympathetic towards the 'dog'. Only two people wrote offlist to me to ask me if I was actually writing a satire which was what it was.

The mention of one of the names of the persons who made TOL very unpleasant prompted me to write that silly title of this thread.

I humbly apologise for my devlish sense of humour.

Let me tell another story from one of our most famous modern "Fairy
Tales"

This is the story of Bee Maja and her adventures.

Onte of those adventures was:

She met a major of the bumble bees, who was very depressed and
disgruntled. Maja asked for the reason, and the major told her that
in the last few years the bumble bees he commanded had claimed for
themselves a set of grasslands and chased ott all the other insects.
Now those grasslands no longer thrived. Whereupon Maja informed him
that in order to thrive the grasslands needed different kinds of
insects,, since e. g. the bumble bees were too big to dust the smaller
blossoms, so they died - other plants neede the little ones .....

Well, that is exactly what happened to TOL, it probably happened to
the grasslands some of those "bumble-bees" had set up for themselves
and what may unfortunately happen to this list also.
