Hering's Law - question

Does anyone know when and/or where Hering published/pronounced his
"Law or Rule of Cure?"

On googling I found:

I have been unable to find the original work, J. T. Kent in his
Lectures on Hom#opathic Philosophy and Lesser Writings speaks of
Hering and of the modus operandi of cure. Stuart Close likewise
mentions the law of cure in his Genius of Hom#opathy. As far as I know
no trace of it can be found in the homeopathic literature or
elsewhere.

"Herring's Law - the concept that during homeopathic treatment of a
disease, symptoms disappear in an orderly manner. That is, symptoms
improve from above downwards, from vital to less vital organs, from
the most recent to earliest symptoms and the symptoms disappear in
reverse order to their appearance. It was first described by
Constantine Hering (1800-1880) in his preface to Hahnemann's 'Chronic
Diseases' (1845). In this preface, Hering describes his observations
on how diseases progress to a cure.

J.T. Kent coined the term Hering's Law (of Cure) when he described
the progress of cure in his lectures. Actually as more and more
clinical data is analyzed one finds that, 'with the simillimum most
symptoms begin to improve simultaneously and disappear in the reverse
order of their appearance, and not necessarily from above downwards
and from inside outwards'. - Andre Saine, 'Simillimum (1991, 4:4, p.

If you look at the cases used to illlustrate Hering's "Law" in that link, not sure if those are Hering's cases or Schmidt's,

" On April 5, I give Sulphur 30, 200M, 10M one dose of each dilution every morning and Placebo.
On April 16, the patient tells me she felt far worse during the four days which followed her visit to my office, and she didn't close her eyes during these four nights. ..."

How is this "classical" prescribing?

It was already pointed out that Andre Saine wrote that Hering's Law is not a Law. He also believes the 6th ed Organon is not acceptable and does not use LM's.

Subsequently, Luc De Schepper, has been using the term Hering's Set of Observations.

Personally, I hope it is not a law or I could never be cured of diabetes and would be damned to palliation until death.

i seem to remember learning that Hering never wrote this 'law.' can't
recall how it came to be known as hering's law but the history is more
about what others created, not hering himself.
i think this is another lesson in how realities get created in the collective
consciousness despite evidence to the contrary.

Hi Luise:
Is Hering's Law of Cure perhaps a distillation of his published work 'Guiding Symptoms'? I believe that is where the idea originated. And I believe 'Guiding Symptoms' is available online at www.archive.org .
Also, Dr. Luc de Schepper has some great additions to Herings set of observations in his book 'Advanced Guide for Professional Homeopaths'. Brings in some great information about how to observe the patient's presenting symptoms and how you can really judge if the pathology is moving from more important organs to less important organs, etc.
