Greetings from another organic chicken & veggie farmer! SAD is definitely treatable by homeopathy, but this is not really a d-i-y project. Please try to find a classical homeopath in your area (or in Canada, if you're close to the border). The websites for the National Center for Homeopathy or the North American Society of Homeopaths can help get you started with their directories of practitioners. Good luck to you!
Peace,
Dale

I've had a patient with exactly this problem who responded very well to the remedy Sol (sunlight!) so it would be worth trying. Get Sol 200c or 1M if you can , and take one as needed (you shouldn't need to take it every day once it kicks in)

Also see the new research on Vitamin D and its association with SAD.
About 10,000 IU per day is a good amount - of D3 (not the Rx D2) -
and no the 10,000 is not a typo.
(Cf refs in Scientific American issues earlier this year)

Have you noticed any changes in your blood glucose, or anything else, since you switched from 50,000 IU D2 to 50,000 IU D3 over a month ago?

Who said "per day"? Tho, if you take a 50,000 IU Dx capsule, you will be taking it all in one day.

Hard to tell, and I doubt that only 4 doses of D2 would do anything
good or bad.
So far with the time change to "daylight savings" which I see as
"daylight losings" as I am not up early enough to se the sunrise -
and darkness so far north, I have had less upsetness with that than I
expected so far.
An A1C I did, might say something on glucose - I've not been taking
it regualarly.
As to infections I am currently staving off anything worse than a
mild cold/bronchitis - which is perhaps better than usual for start
of winter for me.

The problem is that I also have used homeopathy during the year - so
I can't really tell what helped which for sure:-)

I just got back blood tests. I can't believe that my total Vit D (D2 + D3) is 20, which is the low normal threshold, considered insufficient. Below 20 is deficient. There are no normal ranges for D2, D3 independently. I'm living in Miami area and while not lying out on the beach daily, certainly get more sunshine than most at higher latitudes. Even sun at 5pm shortly before sunset is strong enough to make my skin tingle. Plus I was already taking some xtra D3.

It's thought low Vit D causes many illnesses, can it be diabetes causes low Vit D?

I'm not sure what to do next, I've increased to 2000 IU D3/day. What's the benefits of taking 50,000 IU at once every week vs. lower amounts daily? While it's fat soluble, it shouldn't be eliminated too quickly but doesn't that cause spikes in your D levels? How long does it take for Vitamin D levels to increase and cause an effect?

Mercola ;-) recently wrote that you need UVB more for Vit D production and that means getting sun from 12-2 pm as the UVB decrease greatly later in the day.

There is quite a different feeling, not sunburn, from getting lots of sunlight vs. taking Vit D supps. I just didn't realize I need to it daily and longer to maybe make a difference, unless one can become Vit D resistant. ;-)
