Locked knee

Post by Dimara »

Hi!

My daughter (16) has had a locked knee for the last 10 hours. She is
in pain and sitting in an awkward and uncomfortable position.

We have tried arnica, rhus tox, ruta, hypericum, aconite, mag phos in
warm water and advil, as well as two T3? codiene (sp. sorry) tablets.
All remedies were 30, except hyper which we gave in 5 min intervals
for 4 doses and then 2 doses of 1M.

The slightest movement causes her great pain. Heat and cold don't seem
to help altho she enjoyed a foot bath with some magnesium in it.

After all these hours her other muscles are also tightening which is
not helping.

The doctor was by and called emergency. The orthopedic doctor said to
bring her in the morning. Doctor checked for swelling etc - there is
none. They don't suspect tears
or serious damage.

She has had results from pulsatilla over the years.

The muscle locking runs in the family. (Her grandfather, great uncle,
uncle, mother, brother). None have had it this serious - usually very
painful but over in less than an hour. Grandfather had surgery for it.

She is currently in the basement and refuses to let anyone move her
upstairs. We were hoping the painkillers would let it ease off so we
could move her and/or take her to the hospital. Nothing is touching
the pain.

Accident occurred when she was kneeling on the floor and then stood up.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks!

this is an extreme spasm and this is a rubric that shows up.

you might consider this.

also, can you apply heat or massage to the area?

eft or hands on healing?

*Pain as if dislocation.
*Benumbing, stupifying pain enough to make her faint.
*Limbs drawn together crookedly.
I tend to use a dose of Aconite first of all with dislocations if the person
is absolutely terrified at the thought of any physical movement. Calc carb.
is then highly indicated in the above rubrics - if they are the ones that
fit your case.
Good luck,
Chris.

Thanks for the ideas! I do not have sec :(, am currently trying
bryonia but she says it isn't working. :( Only took 2 doses, maybe I
will repeat. Calc carb - this is my son's regular remedy so I have a
good selection. Will check with her to see if it fits.
Quite unhappy with how little help the medical system is on this one.

Thanks again.

Try the Ferrum Metallicum I spoke about in an earlier post on Frozen
Shoulder. My muscles were going into spasms in all limbs and my heart,
which of course is all muscle, was beating irregularly. My feet would
lock into painful spasms and I could only bring them back into a resting
position if I manually manipulated them.

best,

Julie

Moist Heat applied to the knee will unlock the knee - Use a towel in hot water sprinkle some Turmeric on the Towel - turmeric side on the skin right on the knee - exchange every few minutes. It will work. I have a husband that happened to him several times and it works. Turmeric has anti inflammatory properties.
Many good wishes
