Dear Members,
As an MD interested in learning alternative medicine, namely
homeopathy, I have strong interest in hearing what practitioners of
homeopathy and/or Oriental Medicine or other modalities.
I'm uncertain to the validity of the online sources but I have read
that 80% of India's population is treated by Ayurvedic physicians.
Having family and traveled there, I would dispute this assertion.
Hundreds of millions of Indians have virtually no access to any
professional health care. Regional folk medicine, loosely based on
Ayurveda, helps fill in some of the gaps, but majority of these
practitioners are not trained in academic institutions. However, some
of these herbalists are 4th, 5th, and greater generations of healers,
and likely more adept at treating many types of illnesses. Many
homeopathic colleges in India as well, but many of these homeopaths
just go to become a 'doctor' and do not practice homeopathy at all, or
just a little here and there. This may be an overgeneralization, as I
am sure that many homeopathic physicians in India are excellent!
Allopathic medicine is the magic, heroic medicine that many Indians
desire, and the national medicine, Ayurveda, and the imported science
of homeopathy, are both losing ground to the new, powerful Western
medicine. Sad but likely to be true.
Beyond the above, I know very little about traditional medicine,
homeopathy, and herbal medicine.
I'm aware of Hahnemann's famous discovery of quinine/chinona bark?;
and that some plants used as herbal medicine have similarities in
function with homeopathic remedies.
If any members could comment on their experiences or knowledge of
patient outcomes, from OM, Ayurveda, herbals, and homeopathy, I would
be extraordinarily thankful.
Basically, it seems that homeopathy offers extraordinary results and
cures, but all systems of medicine and/or its adherents have
weaknesses....Do traditional medicines, offer our patients some
'thing' that homeopathy does not?
Thank you for your help.
Respectfully,
Kadeera -- close friend of Kimberly - a patient advocate and
passionate supporter for homeopathy

Hi Kadeera,
cut
Besides homeopathy I only have competence in Traditional Chinese
Medicine.
Yes, I should think that TCM may offer some "things" that homeopathy
does not (and vice versa).
