Have you or anyone you know been treated by Dr. Ramakrishnan? I'd like to hear feedback on his methods, successes and failures.
He is billed as "one of the most respected homeopathic physicians in the U.S. He is known for his ability to treat successfully people with some of the most serious pathology known." I don't know how true this is since he lives in India and only visits here 2-3 times per year.
I went to see Dr. Ramakrishnan for treatment, primarily for diabetes, when he visited the USA. I only saw him for 25 minutes and was given a scrip for a new constitutional remedy and a remedy for diabetes. He prescribes strictly 4th ed Organon since instructions were to take the constitutional remedy w pills/x times per day once every y weeks for z months. The cost for the visit was $750. The diabetes remedy was prescribed x times/daily for z months. It took awhile to adapt taking a high C potency constitutional remedy in rote fashion but I survived suffering though some expected aggravations while making some of my own 5th edition Organon adjustments (aka dissolve & stir) later as time went on.
After z months, I made good overall progress so contacted him for a followup phone/email. A few minutes by phone and then an email followup (he says his computer crashed losing my info, so I had to provide my case over again), I was sent a new scrip, now for a cell salt remedy taken x times/day, daily for z months and repeating again the diabetes remedy for z months. I was told no more constitutional as too dynamic, now physical plane. This cost $250. After starting the new remedy, I did not feel well right away and after a few weeks, regressed, so contacted him. Barely acknowledging any feedback except to say stay on new cell salt remedy and then make another appointment for his next USA visit, this will cost $350 to be deposited in advance to his checking account.
Is Dr. Ramakrishnan worthy to command these exorbitant prices? He charges per prescription, not time, and once dispensed, there is little room for feedback during the time you are told to take the remedy(ies). It also appears he works on a z month schedule. Take the remedy for z months, then make a new appointment. A request for a remedy suggestion vs. surgery for an unrelated acute situation was ignored.
Is this the way Indian homeopaths operate? Is this quasi-allopathic-classical prescribing, taking a remedy repeatedly for a finite time at the same potency? I know many work clinic-style, seeing 100's of patients a week but surely no one in India is paying $750 + $250 + $350 +.... each time they followup or a clinic visit yet alone phone or email. Maybe he feels we're all rich Americans.
I'm trying to determine the value of what may be his vast allopathic-style impersonal clinical experience which may allow him to better understand homeopathic principles, albeit 4th ed. Organon, and use remedies the way many Western style homeopaths can not. The constitutional remedy he prescribed was tried once years before with severe aggravations. He said his unique way of prescribing this polychrest remedy would alleviate that, which it did. So obviously he knows a bit about remedies. Then again, having taken this polychrest before, maybe my vital force reacted better on repetition.
As for any "cure" for diabetes, Dr. Ramakrishnan has told me maybe after two years of treatment. At least he's not promising any miracles nor wasting time on New Age psychological approaches to classical homeopathy for chronic genetic medical conditions. Yet, I now wonder if this is to keep you on the hook for over $1200/year or might his methods really lead to a cure.
He published a $50 CD set on diabetes treatment where he uses the following remedies, Natrum Sulph, Calc. Carb., Lycopodium, Sulphur, Uranium Nitricum, Argentum Nitricum, Apis, Glonoine, Calc. Phos., Ferrum Met., Cantharis, Terebinthin, Helleborus, Glycerine, Berberis Vulg., Kali Phos., Vesicarea, Eel's Serum, Plumbum Met., Abroma Augusta, Vanadium, Selenium, Acid Phos, Acid Nit., Zincum Met., Sacale Cor., Aurum Met., Veratrum Vir., Acid Fluor., Ars. Iod., Lachesis, Baryta Carb., Baryta Mur., Gymnema Sylvester, Syzigium Jambolanum, Ars. Bromide, Tylophora Indica.
Am I just overpaying for what may turn out to be his already established diabetes protocol where I'll be cycled through these remedies? I can already strike three remedies off this list.
