cortisone use - REDUCTION

Post by Soroush Ebrahimi »

I DISAGREE with the suggestion below.

These are general instructions for weaning someone off allopathic
medication. You need to take your time and proceed with CARE.

Prescribe the remedy you have decided up on at LM potency.

When you are sure that you have prescribed the correct remedy and the
patient is reporting improvements in their general state and particulars for
which the allopathic medication was prescribed, then think about reducing
the allopathic medication.

Ideally, this should be done in conjunction with the person who prescribed
the medicine in the first place. As a minimum you should keep them
informed.

As far as actual reduction is concerned, if the medication is in the form of
a pill or liquid, then it is relatively easy.

With liquids, use a graduated syringe and draw a fraction less (say 0.1 ml)
per dose than the previous dose administered. So we go from 5.0 ml to 4.9,
4.8 etc

With tablets, use a clean new metal nail file and scratch once per dose
cumulatively. So 1st dose one scratch, second dose 2 scratches and so on,
till you can go to the pill next size down - eg from 50 mg to 25 mg and then
carry on.

STOP at any time the patient reports any adverse reaction and maintain the
allopathic dose at that level until the system settles once again and then
restart the reduction perhaps more slowly.

If the medication is in the form of a capsule or a pill which has a special
coating on it, then discuss with the pharmacist to see if the form can be
changed.
Special coatings on tablets and capsules are designed so that the coating
dissolves in a certain section of the gastric tract. For example, some
should NOT come into contact with the stomach lining.
