Dear Tanya, thank you for your notes and comments. I agree with you about
the dreams in many ways - they are signposts and they make for interesting
reading in any case taking, and they are an important part of the energy
within your client.

The issue about desire for company:- Tarentula will repertorise out with
both a desire and an aversion to company (more an aversion than desire). You
associate spiders as being loners but the desire is there in the Rx and so
needs to be understood in context. Is your client desiring company generally
as you might have in someone who is gregarious. Or is she desiring company
because she is fearful of being alone. She is choosing the company of women
because she is mistrustful of men and so its a question about what is
driving her. Tarentula has FEAR OF BEING ALONE, FEAR OF DEATH, FEAR OF EVIL,
FEAR OF IMPENDING DISEASE, FEAR OF MISFORTUNE, FEAR OF INSANITY - these are
big driving forces which might make one want the company of others
regardless of what your 'natural' inclination may be, i.e. wanting to be
alone.

You can understand quite easily the terror that spiders might have - they
are persecuted, hardly anyone loves spiders, many are scared stiff of them,
we spend time getting rid of them with little guilt, even the small and
non-poisonous varieties - so terror isn't out of place here.

You mentioned Stramonium as a possible Rx. This truly is a Rx of terror,
thought of as coming from the brain rather than the emotions (but of course
we know how intertwined these both are). They appear to be driven by
delusions, manias and fears. They talk with spirits and see ghosts, rapid
changes of moods which are extreme, ceaselessly talking. If this state has
become suppressed you get the image of someone who has Parkinsons - locked
inside themselves, graceful and gyrating movements, complete absence of
pain, convulsions and spasms, perhaps still talking with spirits but not at
'ground level'. This remedy has often been thought of in children who have
so called Autism, where it is believed that the aetiology of this state
comes from a "C" section birth. This is their first terror which they never
return from. People can present in either of these two extremes of the
remedy.

I would go back to your first case presentation and decide if you can still
see Stramonium. In other words I feel that whatever Rx she is now she would
have been then. But considering all the other Sx in the case, I can't really
see Stramonium.

Personally, at the moment though, because you have prescribed Staph., I
would stick with it (it hasn't been very long has it) for a while to make
sure. Even if she appears to be struggling (and none of us want to see our
clients suffer during treatment - this goes without saying) you need to be
absolutely sure if the Rx is working or not. Not easy in a client who has so
much emotional and mental Sx in the foreground. If she really is asking for
intervention you can always consider Sac Lac. If you are sure of another Rx
then go with it. Of course the choice is yours.
