Airport Screening X-Ray effects on remedies?
Dear members,
What effect do the 'x-ray' machines that airport screeners use for
carry on luggage have on remedies? And some airports I hear, check
stowe away luggage/under the plane, intermittently, wtih 'x-ray', too.
Is there any strong evidence in that the remedies that are subjected
to the airport screening, lose their effect, either partially or fully
or even not at all?
Thank you for your help!
Respectfully,
Preston Foell

Hi Preston I can only give you my own experiences. I have carried remedies onto plane with me and had them xrayed and they still work – I have not noticed any great diminuition of power after it – don’t know how repeated xraying would be though.

Re: Airport Screening X-Ray effects on remedies?
Hi Pauline,
I am just wondering that the matter brought out by Preston seems to have some load in it. But as you say the evidence is needed. I just wish you are right. I am already feeling that there is some effect. Because my son who is abroad right now, had carried some medicines with him. Most of the medicines have been giving reasonable and expected results. But lately, I get the report that medicine being used for something new is not responding. It is well tried and I have been using it for almost 30 years now.. and I never felt such delay in response of medicines till this time.
Can it be effect of such screening. I am trying to locate now, some Homeo Pharmacies in Hongkong, and use the same remedies, if available locally.. and I hope this may give some idea, as to whether really some other remedy is needed, or has it been effected. Moreover, I made it a pont to use Plastic containers to pack the medicines, but still the chances, if there are, cannot be reduced.
I hope to get more opinions from others about it.
Thanks for your opinion. It gives some hope that such fears may not be practically happening.
Warm regards
Paul Kahlon.

Hi Paul – will add that my remedies were pillules not liquid – am not sure if this makes any difference in the xraying. They were packed in plastic vials.
Maybe we should market lead lined first aid kit boxes for travelers???? Regards Pauline

Hi Pauline,
I have used a lead lined film bag, however, it created a lot of attention and inspection.

Re: Airport Screening X-Ray effects on remedies?
The question comes up periodically, and over the years I have not heard
anyone say that they had noticed any harm to their remedies from
airport x-ray machines, and several people have said that they
regularly carry their remedies thru the airport machines, have done so
for years, and have not seen any negative effect. So I'd say--Preston,
no need to worry!

Hi Pauline,
Thanks.. I too feel it advisable. the problem is with rules and regulations of the flights and Airlines about checking .. and countries too who object the liquids being carried.
But I seem to agree fully with you, the best alternate is to depend on Plastic vials.. better than anything else.
Hope it works..
Warm regards.

Why would plastic be preferable to glass? I'd have thought glass less
reactive, etc.?
Shannon

Hi Shannon,
Was it JW who mentioned there was more exposure during the flight than when passing thru the x-ray machine?
