Beethoven and homeopathy--I need the advice of a German-reader

Friends,
I have obtained some fascinating evidence that Ludwig von Beethoven
received homeopathic care. I do not want to discuss these details right
now, but I need someone who reads German and who has access to the German
edition of BEETHOVEN AS I KNEW HIM by Anton Felix Schindler (published in
1860).
On page 62 of the English edition of this book, he makes reference to a
"Father Weiss" employing "the simpliest methods." I need to know two
things:
1) How does the author spell "Weiss"?
2) Is the translation accurate when translator wrote: "the simpliest
methods"?

Hopefully they have more there than the music of Beethoven or will know
where to find what you are after - otherwise perhaps a music faculty at
a German university?

I may have through the libraries. I would have to find out.

However, as to your questions below:
The answer would not necessarily be relevant. At that time the German
spelling was not really standardized, and especially as far as "ss" or
our German alternative letter is concerned (it will not come out in
English if I type it) often one writes it one way, someone else the
other. This also regrettably goes for family names.
It should most probably read: "The simplest methods".

It is unlikely or at least uncertain that this would mean homeopathy.
At that specific time (not at Hahnemann's) many doctors, but also and
especially lay people - "Father" Weiss probably was one of the latter
- would use "the simplest methods". You might google for Priessnitz or
Kneipp for more information.
