Please, Jon:
many of us are not Christian, and not overfeeding "Christians," and do not
appreciate being "congratulated" for the day on which "Christians" gorge
themselves on the flesh of tortured, butchered, eviscereated turkeys and
geese. The pain and suffering of these gentle creatures subjected to these
millions of deaths is graphic enough without the gorgers celebrating their
drooling cannibalistic salivation on our list. Is there any way to keep this
sort of thing off the list?

Dear Jenny,
You are not alone. As a person who subscribes to no organized religion, I have had a problem with this for years. However, I do wish people well wishes for the season as I do feel the Solstice has important energy and import. For me, it always is the promise of longer days with the energy that is provided me. I, also, have no problem wishing others that their holidays are good for them. I only wish they would recognize and honor my points of celebration.
For that matter, although it is not spoken of often, all the major religions have their holidays organized around the Solstice during this winter season.
What I enjoy most is the quietude that I revel in alone while others are out doing their thing and exhausting their minds and bodies.

While we may not partake of flesh ....nor celebrate Christ's birth at
this time ... we must be able to
chill out, and accept that there are a lot of things people do daily
that are contrary to our own belief systems
if we can't how are we ever gonna accept our patients?? As a good
homeopath and human you have to accept
the colours and hues of each individual's life ... they have a right to
live as they choose and we have to respect that
choice .. no matter what we believe...
as a practising Sikh woman married to a Christian Man I have accepted
that we may pray in different languages
but our prayers are heard by the same ear... I don't eat meat, fish or
eggs and don't expect to cook them under
my roof but, have allowed for the fact that his desire to eat flesh may
still be strong although he is veggie by association
so when he's home at his parent's in Brasil it's fair enough.
Jon probaly meant no offense by his words so ... switch off the insult
antennae and enjoy the holidays you richly deserve
after working hard all year ....
