Potencies (A true story :))

Post by arista000 »

Thank you, Penelope, Hennie, Shannon, Sheri, and All.
I really appreciate reading about your diverse experiences.

I consider myself a permanent student of homoeopathy - staunchly
classical, Hahnemannian homoeopathy. I have even actively dissuaded
people from using combos. (Though I must say I wouldn't have dared
doing that if I saw the "remedy" were of any help to them.)

But, in the name of honesty, I think I owe all of you an account of
how I got involved in homoeopathy.

A person that was very dear to me was in constant pain, following a
fall. The pain wasn't terribly severe, but annoying enough. (Imagine
feeling pain ALL THE TIME.)

At the time - this was ten years ago - I barely knew what homoeopathy
was. I was familiar with its fundamental principle ("similia...") -
and that was it; I don't think I even knew who Hahnemann was.

So, when I saw a "homoeopathic" remedy, labeled "against back pain",
in a health food store I had no idea what I was buying. It was a
little plastic bottle with a dropper. I don't think the ingredients
were even listed on the label (or maybe I just don't remember it); I
do remember, though, that it said the solution had been "energised"
with certain semi-precious stones...

In short, it was the kind of "remedy" that would make my hair stand on
end today. And even then it looked more than a little fishy to me. But
I thought: 'What the heck, it's worth trying'.

When I brought the thing home, I said to my injured dear one to stick
out his tongue. As he did so, I dropped the recommended two drops on
his tongue and told him with a shrug (I literally shrugged): "I have
no idea what this is, but - who knows? - it might help..."

No sooner had the liquid dropped on his tongue, I saw a change on his
face. "What?!" I said, panicking. "It doesn't hurt anymore," he said.

Obviously, I thought he was trying to make ME feel better, so I told
him to "stop kidding me".

But he wasn't kidding. The pain HAD stopped. What's more: it never
came back. (It wasn't - and couldn't have been, not considering the
people involved - a placebo effect, but you'll just have to take my
word for it.)

That was the day when I became seriously interested in homoeopathy.
Ironically, it was a totally hoakey-sounding, absolutely non-classical
combo what brought me to it. (Even more ironically, I never tried
another combo after I had started studying homeopathy.)

Believe me, I feel much more uncomfortable telling you this than any
of you who are reading this. :-)

But it's the truth, and truth cannot harm anyone.
All the best,

A.

thanks for sharing.
Many of us got into homeopathy that way
And miraculous things have happened.
But, that doesn't mean we practice that way as homeopaths.
The right remedy was in there and in the right potency for that person.

Great story.

Of course it doesn't. (And I may be even guilty of neglecting the

That's precisely why I wrote about it. ;)
