I thought this one might be of interest and would welcome input.
The patient is a 33 year old woman. She has shown sensitivity since childhood in the abdomen (stomach aches), UTI and vaginal infections.
6 weeks ago, while in a difficult emotional and business situation, she got a UTI, was given an antibiotic known here as Zinnat. It cleared up. Several weeks later, she started experiencing severe abdominal pain. Although one doctor said "Zinnat, well.." most thought that she had an infection in the uterus. Prescription: augmentin and doxylin. Within 24 hours, she was having very severe watery diarrhea, vomiting, severe abdominal pain, extreme tenderness to touch in the area of the kidneys. She was hospitalized, they couldn't figure out what was wrong, gave her another antibiotic (Metrogel) and sent her home with a tentative diagnosis of Crohns. After 3 days of taking this antibiotic, she started feeling an improvement - but developed severe vaginal burning and discomfort, and a feeling that the whole area was inflammed. Several days later she said she was improved.
When I checked out the medications on the net (usually use Medline's drug info), I found the entire abdominal pain picture (including emergence several weeks after taking the antibiotic) under Zinnat, together with a warning that it can cause colitis. When I mentioned it to the patient, she said it's not possible that she should have a reaction because she has used Zinnat a lot over the years with no ill effects. I think that the emotional sensitivity of the time together with ongoing crisis in her business combined with a cumulative effect from the Zinnat could have triggered this whole episode. Also on checking I found the Metrogel, given to treat vaginal infection, can cause it (is this a homeopathic remedy perhaps?). She was taking the pill while taking the Metrogel, and started bleeding black blood with clots, something she has not had before. Her GP suggested this might have been caused by the interaction between the pill and the Metrogel.
This whole six-week period looks to me like a sensitivity to allopathic drugging situation. My feeling is to get her to "detox" for several days, with placebo, acidopholous and vitamin C and a lot to drink, and then to give her Sulphur to start moving her out of the antibiotic damage unless symptoms change and point to other remedies very clearly. I don't think she'll need Sulphur long term, but think it may be the place to start.
Any opinions on this kind of case?
Vera

Re: diagnosing side effects of allopathic drugs
Vera,
There are 3 good rem for NWS Anti-biotics:
Thuja, Ars Alb, & Nitric Acid (w/diarrhea)
I use mostly Ars Alb.
If you look at Nitric Acid:
Mind -anxiety
Urethritis
Urine, offensive, burning
Vaginitis
If the rem fits, it's a good rem for NWS A/B.
Regards,
Bill Giman

hi vera,
these is dr.mital,
ur case is interesting but i think insted of labeling these case as
side effect of allopathic drugs u should take complete totality & u
will get right similer remedy, which can be phase remedy to ur case
& once that phase is clear u can come to constitution of ur patient.
pl consider the most imp is general state of ur patient.
bye
