Thank you for your e-mail to the Department on 18 October about behavioural
disorders as a result of food allergies. I have been asked to reply and
apologise for the delay.

We take seriously the possible link between allergies for behaviour
disorders, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Before
any other cause is considered a link between an allergy and the disorder
should be considered. However, as I understand no concrete scientific
evidence has yet to be produced to confirm that there is a link between diet
and disorders like ADHD.

I hope this is helpful and once again I apologise for the delay in my reply.

Maybe Mrs X should refer the Dept to a bestseller called

"why your child is hyperactive - the bestselling book on how Attention
Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is caused
by artificial food flavours and colors"

This book is excellent and has been around for a while (1975) it is
written by an eminent American pediatrician specializing
in children's allergies... perhaps this plus a good kick up the backside
is in order ....

hope it helps her ... there are some good pointers to help treat through
diet....
