a beautiful cure - where's the rubrics

Dear Shannon,
In fact, there's only one way I really know of -

read the materia medicas

There are so so so many juicy bits of info hiding in Boericke (my recent discovery: Nat Salcy for debility & NBWS flu- look it up!), Clarke prescriber and all those.

Select your Remedy
700 redline symptoms
bedside prescriber
... to name a few.
Again, from my perspective- I don't consider myself very clever when it comes to the deep deep constitutional understanding people and their rx's- oh, you know, the Catherine Coulter's & Scholten's of this world are sometimes beyond me. ...But those valuable titbits, the one-liners of someone like Boericke & Clarke really catch my interest.

These old masters really knew their stuff.

When I was homeopathically young and in the process of building up our Abha Light dispensary, every few months I used to pour over Boericke

just catching up with this - excellent and I agree - I spend far more
time reading materia medicas than what I do reps. But did I read that
you (Didi) didn't use the periodicity rubric, that being so SRP it
would take you almost straight to the simillimum - there's enough rx
in the rubric to go to MM's read/study them all without any other work
needing doing. Joy

Hi Didi,

I'm sure like most of us, you can spot a Lyc or Ars.alb at 40 paces ! ;-)
Do you really not work with 'essences' ??
Light dispensary, every few months I used to pour over Boericke.
** Must agree ! I also 'cut my teeth' on Boericke; vastly underrated book full of
snippets.

Dear Barbara,

Oh, yeah, yeah I can spot those obsessive-compulsive Ars's and I'm probably 1/2 Lyc myself. In fact my new (Ars a) hard working helper in our pharmacy is so lovely. First day, after sterilizing the bottles, she lined them up to dry in a perfect equilateral triangle! In less than a week, she turned our sulphur-influenced (my other 1/2!) environment into squared-off, spotless joy. Hey! I got it!

Well, when the mental-emotionals come up and smack me in the face, I certainly use them. It's just I think that I'm just not that trained or refined to spot those mental-emotion things like a Scholten's:

"Confusion about who he is & who the other person is" (Alum) or "Overshoot,Exaggerate,Repeat,Pollution,Enemies,Decay,Holes" (Stage12)

or a Sankaran's

"Paralyzed,Immobile,Agg. sitting,First motion agg.,Restlessness,Sedentary agg,You are stuck and want to move continuously."

Well, with time, no doubt.....

Dear Joy,

Joy wrote:

You see, I started to take the case as "epilepsy" and was jotting down all the particulars of the fits when I asked in the ordinary course of things: "so how often?" and "when did it start?" After that, all the exciting bits came out.

To explain: I did repertorize, but not to look for a rx, per se, but rather confirm my suspicions that chin-s would do the job right... and to look at other possibilities just in case chin-s didn't.

And that's only because chin-s is so very "specific" for quinine poisoning, at least in my readings and experience. (like the way people think of arnica for bruises, hypericum for smashed fingers)

Please- don't take this explanation as some sort of bravado on my part. No doubt, there are those times too, my pre-conceptions land me in the mud.

must be really good mud where you are then Didi :-))

but just to add to the retrospective understanding of the case - in
many ways the epilepsy was not what needed to be cured but that which
had suppressed it and your genius choice of rx hit that mark straight
away. But the peculiarity of the exact periodicity of the fits is a
wonderful example of how the 'cause' of the disease mimics the end
results of the disease itself, i.e. malaria is often defined as a
tertian fever (that word is still used in the reps and you might even
find a rubric for suppressed tertian fever) and tertian is all about
exact periodicity (isn't it used as a musical chord term?) and this
was mirrored in the type of the fits. Best wishes, Joy

no, not necessarily "specific" for treating *malaria* but for

Talking of which, I have a px who drinks Tonic Water in preference to the plain stuff -
and has done for a long, long time. Whilst her sx don't support a 'China' prx
particularly (except for the diverticulosis), has anyone else seen this kind of scenario
or would like to suggest rems. for taking quinine on a regular basis (albeit diluted !)

Her main concern is stress incontinence (but she is 86). It ONLY happens when she
has to hurry to the toilet after drinking tea with a friend.

Other problem being her diagnosed diverticula problem, which manifests as a
writhing sensation when sitting, and sometimes lying at night (which means taking
Nux to get her off to sleep -- she is familiar with hx and this is the only thing that
works, but it is just palliation).

Haven't permission for a full case, but if anything springs to mind, feel free !

Interesting! I wonder what the colonial emperialists liked to drink in the
"hot countries"?
