soft palate grainy

Dear all,
When I run my tongue over my soft palate, it feels grainy, like it had a
spattering of sand on it. This comes and goes (tho never entirely
disappears), so I'm guessing an allergy (maybe milk)? Can't find this symptom in my
hard-copy reps. Maybe in hom software reps? Many thanks for looking.

Hi Margaret

The only thing that comes to mind that could be described that way is a condition called Nicotinic
stomatitis -- the lumps are red and raised on the soft palate --- which is caused by irritation from
cigarette smoke, and goes away when exposure is removed. If you do not smoke then of course this is
not relevant. Other than that I am not aware of another cause that would have the lumps come and go.
