spinal injury
Hi,
I have a 73 year Japanese lady px who was riding around on a motorized
bicycle who ran into a concrete wall. It was evening and she was
avoiding another bike rider. (She has a knee problem otherwise she
would be on a bike like the other ladies her age). No other injuries
than a spinal (I'm not sure what to call it. The bones of the spine
have been pushed against one another.) She already has some extra
calcium (or whatever) on the spinal bone so that increases the
compression. The lack of space between the spinal bones is painful.
After about a week of Hypericum 200 she is able to sit up, stand up
and turn over, but still is taking pain killers and is progressing
into using a corset to move about. Two weeks after the accident, the
doctor says that the problem is no worse after MRIs, exray and 3
doctor visits.
Since the problem is physical and structural, hypericum can't fix the
problem. I am assuming that when she moves as she is proned to do
because she is taking pain killers, she is also injurying the spinal
cord. But the doctor is not very emphatic about staying still. Is
there anything more homeopathy can do?
I think she has the spinal bone nodule because she has a weak kidney.
She urinates only in the evening and at night. Her lower legs and
knee are heavy with edema. I feel like if I worked on that condition,
the spinal condition would get better.
Blessings,
Ellen

Re: spinal injury
i have a worker who has a similar thing and have some similar questions.
his injury came from spinal taps which were abusive to his back. they
gave him 7 shots at one time, hitting the nerve and sending his body into
the air. a recent MRI has shown 5 discs that are bulging. the nerves are
seriously inflammed and he is on drugs which dont help. he was told to
not stay in any position for any length of time.
my question is similar to yours: what can the rx do to alleviate the
compression
of the spine and therefore the pressure on the nerves. i have seen rx help
tremendously with sciatica and ankle weakness, etc as i am sure you have.

Re: spinal injury
It is best to treat the most demanding state and that appears to be
the back injury and it would be a good idea to look for the simillimum
(which Hypericum doesn't seem to be) then take the rest of the chronic
case. There are so many rx for back injuries and if you feel you can
combine the injury with the chronic kidney problem with one remedy
then that would be even better. Joy

Look at it slightly differently (otherwise it is a bit like asking
'how can a rx rid the body of anything')
When an accident happens and an injury occurs it is merely (!) the
expression of weakness or susceptibility in that area of the injury.
Spinal taps don't have the same effect on everyone. The procedure
might have been one of gross negligence and abuse but the sx are very
personal and individual. As always treat the sx. Joy

Re: spinal injury
Ah, the old problem... Relatively modern common terms - in this case
"collapsed vertebrae" or even "thoracolumbar" spine (if that is the
case) - are often somewhat difficult to identify in the Materia
Medicae and most repertories. I am pretty sure I've read about a
remedy for what would be a collapsed spine, but don't remember where
or what it was. But perhaps someone else can.
Among non-homoeopathic remedies, yoga can work wonders. And the
exercises for this particular condition are so simple that they can be
done by anyone who is able to lie on the floor.
Good luck to you and to your patient!

Re: spinal injury
Earthworm "Helodrilus Caliginosus" obtained from Helios can
do wonders not only for acute injuries to the spine but also
constitutionally.

Re: spinal injury
It also seems possible that the "constitutional" approach could be
relevant--what did he have the spinal taps *for*? What remedy might
have been indicated before those happened, and/or what would "the rest
of the case" suggest, and those aspects of his present situation that
aren't "common" to the experience of that injury and the pain...

Re: spinal injury
cant recall why he had the spinal tap. he is a young man, age 24? with
a history of several complaints that affect his heart, chest, head, etc.
although very, very soft spoken, you realize that he speaks so fast that
it is hard to understand him. he is very impatient and i suspect was
clearly add as a child, and probably still it. he never finished hs due to
impatience in life. he went into construction with his father as a young
teenager which i find typical with hyperactive young people. he sees
himself as an artist and was offerred an architectural scholarship when
in high school but quit just before graduation. so there is a history that
has complications. dont know how far he will let me go with him but
was just thinking about approaches in case he did.
