Hi Shannon, Rochelle and others,
Yes, the symptoms do sound like Raynauds, does that help with remedy
selection?
Response to Nat Mur - It's not so easy to qualify as there was not
really a specific symptomatic reason for the prescription. She had
the flu-like illness which was treated acutely with Merc. Nat Mur
was to follow as a general health improver. She's a very active
blonde, blue eyed, 17 year old who has had a tendency to sprain her
ankle during sporting competition, and has also been suffering a
flare up of adolescent acne for the previous 6 - 8 months. She is
hoping to head into Physiotherapy. She is very responsible,
practical, and organised, yet is a bit of a thrill seeker - enjoys
the adrenaline rush of driving a speed boat with the throttle on
full. She has a fear of heights, and can be a bit nervous about the
dark and being left alone, yet doesn't allow this to limit her.
Tends to take offense in a Staphysagria sort of way. Regularly has
issues around being told what to do. Has the Natrum detailed memory
of childhood. Is very nurturing - likes children, played with baby
dolls longer than most others. She is the one in the family who will
organise cards and presents and cakes etc. At the time the Nat mur
was prescribed I was aware of feeling that she had become closed to
me in some ways.
Since being on Nat Mur her skin seems to be clearing. There is a
sense of being a bit more relaxed, although she still feels a bit
closed it is less than before. She did resprain her ankle about 5
weeks ago, I stopped the Nat mur while she had remedies to help the
ankle - arnica, ruta, rhus tox, symph in a mix. I followed this with
Ledum 30 at an emotional reaction point that I have learned to
recognise in her which seems to follow arnica. She becomes
oversensitive to others and begins to complain about inconsiderate
things they have done - this settles after one dose of Ledum.
I waited a week after this and started the Nat mur again. The
weather became colder and the complaints of coldness started.
Yes, my thinking was around the idea that a similimum would resolve
the circulation. What I am not sure of is how long to watch and
wait. So meanwhile I am researching just in case she would benefit
from another remedy. Thinking about Nitricum put me in mind of a
Vermuelen lecture that I attended which highlighted its impact on
blood vessels and how social it can be, as well as having the fears
seen in Arg nit.
Oh, ok, I just thought of looking up Raynauds in Synthesis
ail,Ars, bac, brass, cact, cortico, cupr, ferr-p, germ-met, hep,
prot, sec, sep, vanad, verat, (astra-o, calc, carb-v, cyt-l,foll,
halo, hed, kail-c, kreos, lac-c, nux-v, perh, sulfon, thala, thiop,
visc) and cupr specifically for the fingers.
So a few remedies there that make me think of that sudden cramping
reaction, spasm and shutdown, and some others that reflect hormonal
influence.
That's enough thinking for me at the moment - looking forward to
hearing other's reactions.
Gail
