Dear Friends,
I am very excited to you that I am (again) serving as Chairperson of
the Annual Conference for the National Center for Homeopathy. I've served
as Chairperson for this conference since 1986, and this new conference is
the BEST I've ever helped to create. Dr. Peter Fisher (the Physician to the
Queen of England) is keynoting the conference on Friday night, and he, Iris
Bell, MD, PhD, and I are giving a day-long workshop on the newest scientific
studies conducted on homeopathy (Dr. Fisher is also the editor of
homeopathy's leading academic journal, "Homeopathy" --previously called The
British Homeopathic Journal). Roger Morrison, MD, and Nancy Herrick, PA,
are giving a 2-day workshop on the Carbon remedies. Richard Pitcairn, DVM,
PhD, is giving a day-long workshop on veterinary homeopathy. We had three
times (!) as many requests to speak at this conference as we could accept,
and thus, we have a truly great list of speakers. For details about this
conference, go to:
http://homeopathic.org/cf06.htm
What is also very special about this conference is that it is a JOINTLY
ORGANIZED conference with the following leading organizations:
The National Center for Homeopathy
In association with
The Academy of Veterinary Homeopathy
The American Institute of Homeopathy
The Holistic Pediatric Association
The Homeopathic Academy of Naturopathic Physicians
The Homeopathic Nurses Association
The North American Society of Homeopaths
We invite you to attend.

Scientific Research on Homeopathic Medicine: Proving and Improving Its
Efficacy
People who say that there isn't any good homeopathic research
are simply ill-informed of the scientific literature. There is actually a
considerable body of research on homeopathy, though many of the high quality
studies need to be replicated by other researchers. This special day-long
seminar will review the latest controlled laboratory and clinical trials
investigating homeopathic medicines, with specific reference to studies that
have undergone replication. This seminar will be of interest to skeptics
and advocates alike, as well as practitioners and patients.
This seminar will start with Dr. Peter Fisher, Physician to Her
Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who is also the editor of homeopathy's leading
academic journal, "Homeopathy" (published by Elsevier, who also publish "The
Lancet"). He is also the Clinical Director of the Royal London Homeopathic
Hospital. Iris Bell, MD, PhD, is the director of research for the Program
in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, which was founded by
Andrew Weil, MD. Dr. Bell completed her MD and PhD at Stanford, with her
PhD in neuro and biohavioral sciences. She serves as a professor at the
University of Arizona in several departments, including Psychiatry,
Psychology, Medicine, Family & Community Medicine and Public Health. She is
also a practicing homeopath. Dana Ullman, MPH, has authored 9 books,
including an e-book entitled "Homeopathy Family Medicine: Evidence-Based
Homeopathy," which he updates every 3 months based on new clinical research
in the field.

CARBON: Organic and Hydrocarbon Remedies in Homeopathy
Roger Morrison, MD, and Nancy Herrick, PA
Carbon is the most prolific mineral on earth, and nearly two million
carbon compounds have been discovered to date. Over half of all the known
compounds are organic or carbon based. There are nearly 200 carbon remedies
in the homeopathic materia medica, and though many have been little used,
some are rather famous such as Carbo Vegetabilis, Carbo Animalis, Glonoinum,
Petroleum, Kreosotum, Benzoicum Acidum, Picricum Acidum, to name a few.
Though these carbon remedies have been used since Hahnemann's proving of
Petroleum, they have been ignored and poorly understood.
Through a careful study of known keynotes and cured cases, some clear
features of the carbon family have emerged. This workshop will present the
common features of this group of remedies with special focus on how to
easily recognize the patient who requires a carbon remedy. We will also
concentrate on strategies for chosing the specific carbon remedy for the
patient.
This workshop will be given by two of America's leading teachers of
homeopathy. Dr. Roger Morrison learned Greek in the early 1980s in order to
study for several years by the side of Greek homeopath, George Vithoulkas.
He is author of two major textbooks for practicing homeopaths, "Desktop
Guide to Keynotes and Confirmatory Symptoms" and "Desktop Companion to
Physical Pathology." He is presently completing a new book on the carbon
remedies. And he is the co-founder of the Hahnemann College of Homeopathy,
with his wife, Nancy Herrick, PA. Nancy was one of the early members of the
famed Bay Area Homeopathic Study Group, and she has authored two major books
on new remedies and homeopathic provings of them, entitled "Animal Minds,
Human Voices" and "Sacred Plants, Human Voices."
April 10, One-day Veterinary Workshop
Richard Pitcairn, DVM, PhD.
Pathology in Veterinary Homeopathy: Significance & Treatment
The status of homeopathic medicine in the American veterinary community
today, if not completely ignored, is to consider such treatment an adjunct
of the dominant school. Because of this, the cases homeopathic veterinarians
get are often animals who have not been helped by other treatments. Such
clients are often desperate, and their caregivers tend to see this treatment
as their "last chance." Therefore, contemporary veterinary homeopathic
practice often becomes primarily the treatment of advanced disease.
These patients often have serious pathology or even end-stage organ failure.
As noted by Hahnemann and others, as the patient shows more pathology, the
symptoms become less characteristic or peculiar. These health problems occur
more often when allopathic treatment has changed or suppressed many of the
symptoms. We often work with patients in this condition:
1. effects of prolonged illness.
2. cachexia.
3. organ compromise or failure.
4. history of suppressed symptoms.
5. lack of characteristic or guiding symptoms.
We will look at a theoretical model so as to better understand the patient's
situation. In addition, we will go over strategies to use with these cases,
how to start, what goal to have (in treatment), and what remedies and
potencies are most appropriate.
Richard Pitcairn, DVM, PhD is widely recognized as the preeminent teacher of
veterinary homeopathy in the United States. Besides being a veterinarian,
he received his PhD in immunology, and is the author of "Natural Health for
Dogs and Cats." He is the founder of the Academy of Veterinary Homeopathy
(a professional organization of veterinary homeopathic practitioners).
