More GM tales

Just a funny thing...
Somewhere recently I read an article about how the major cereal and
cracker makers (or was it just Kellogg? I forget) are wakening to the
fact that "the consumer" doesn't want hydrogenated fats any more. So
in response, "they" are working on a new GM type of soybean, whose oil
is *naturally* solid! Yikes... Does anyone know why they aren't just
using what people *used* to use, before hydrogenation was invented?
Why not use liquid veggie oils and/or lard and/or tropical oils? Can
it really be cheaper to create a new genetically modified plant, than
to simply use the ingredients that "other people" use?

We ought to start a letter writing campaign, write to all the
"mainstream" makers of cereals and baked goods and tell them go just
"go natural", tell them "we" are boycotting genetically modified
ingredients. Yet another reason to just "buy organic"...
