No offense taken- Call me whatever you want - this is what I am
calling myself- You can call me H2002 as some do - Horror 2002 if
you want...

The cases described were not mine and the remedies as such were taken
this way by the patients themselves - not prescribed thus by Dr.Koppikar.
He just mentions what he had observed in his practice...
For me a dose is one time administration of the medicine No. 10 pill
or No.20 pill or a huge donut size pill. At 30th potency I do not
think size matters whether it is the simillimum or not. I have never
had any aggravation in my patients as far as I could see due to
that.May be I am myopic ( I really am) any way. I have even soaked the
medicines in allopathic sugar tablets each one the size of a coat
button and given it.

I have seen practitioners ( even I have done it) put one whole drop in
milk sugar and administer to the patient. In terms of globules this
would be enough to moisten about 1 ml pills at least.
Let us say you dilute a minute No.10 pill of the medicine in a bucket
of water- would it matter if you gave it in a teaspoon or a
tablespoon? Would it matter if the patient swallows the water or
gargles his/her mouth and spits it out? Or if swallows half of it and
spits out the rest? Will there be a difference in action?
Regarding swallowing a bucket of globules with impunity if not the
simillimum does not sound reasonable either as there is always the
question of proving.

What do you think of Clarke's and Burnett's prescriptions? Are these
unHahnemannian creatures still homeopaths?

Let me quote Koppikar again: "The law of Homeopathy is a Universal
Law, and every cure can be explained through the Law, irrespective of
the dose".

And once again in terms of experience Dr.Koppikar has been in practice
since Sept 1937 and is the oldest living homeopathic practitioner in
India. So his opinions cannot be easily brushed off.

I have been wondering about Hahnemann giving this as his reason for
more and more minute doses.

I myself think that the reason for more and more dilution was that he
thought they would get more effective that way, but did not want to
give the idea that before they were not as effective as he would wish.

The reason for my idea:

In reading in his casebooks I have not found any real bad
aggravations. If someone else did find such aggravations, I wish s/he
would let me know where (an exact reference, casbeook Nr, page).I
should be most interested.

This is right out of the books you should have read as a trained Homeopath!
I posed a question if anyone in their own practice and history have ever had
a severe aggravation as was one stated for the 94 year old man? All I keep
getting is quotes from books. I personally have not ever HARMED anyone
with homeopathy. I have had only great success with it. So any personal
stories would be greatly appreciated. These kind of stories are truly the
reason people are afraid of it. Thanks Kathy

i have seen a couple of proving responses but nothing like the case
described. actually, i was given a remedy in my early years that i
still believe caused a proving reaction which the homeopath i worked
with in those years refused to acknowledge. however, none of the
reactions were life threatening--just bothersome. cessation of the rx
brought relief in short time.

i have to question the accusation of the rx causing this elderly persons
demise. it's like the bruhaha over ephedra when a runner had a heart
attack. there was no evidence that the herb caused the heart failure

Hi Kathleen

I am particularly sensitive to remedies and have had quite a few
aggravations from them. The worst one was when I accidentally drank
from a cup that I thought was my drink of water when in fact it was the
MS of Ars alb 200c that I had just dosed an animal with. That affected
me very badly on a mental level. I have also had a very bad reaction to
Bell 200c which floored me for three days. I get migraines and I am bad
with them anyway but that dose completely, utterly and absolutely swept
the rug from under my feet. I can aggravate on a 30c as well. I have
had physical and mental aggravations from remedies. I have learnt the
hard way how powerful a medicine homeopathy is and I certainly wouldn't
want to do to another what I have done to myself. When I see
instructions to pile in the 200c's for an acute, or for chronics, I
cringe. If you want to read of some aggravations have a read of John
Saxton's new book Miasms as Practical Tools; he gives case histories
where he has administered repeat doses of 200c and where the case has
got worse for a period of time.

i think your post points to a major piece of learning i received
in my early years of studying homeopathy. 'in each individual
case" one has to assess the sensitivity of a person and adjust
the potencies accordingly. i gave a 30c ign once to a woman
for some grief and she found it to be life transformative. another
very sensitive person. for myself, i have taken 1M several times
a day to control poison ivy, an acute, with no aggravation.

Exactly -
Potency question is so individualistic- all we have are people's
experiences. They would guide when you first administer it to the
patient... then it depends on what happens with the patient- some
require high and some low and some perhaps LM too..

and that is why all this discussion seems to go nowhere- get an idea
of what is available and people's experiences -also Hahnemann's take
on it- but then decide based on situation on hand- you are the person
handling the patient and you are the one who would face the
consequences of your decisions- we cannot just defend what we do by
saying "Hahnemann said so in 6th edition" all the time...Were he
immortal we would be looking at 60th edition by now...

Hi Tanya

I have had great results from a 6c potency in an MS, repeated as needed,
when I was at an all time low mentally and yet I read that to affect
mentals people need to give high potencies. Assessing an individual's
sensitivity is vital if no harm is to be done. I wonder how many people
turn away from Homeopathy because of aggravations.
