((( Lycopodium, in the rubric Autism, is another rx for *dis-integration* of
perceptual functions. It comes up in cases of autism or other disorders of
disconnection from external reality and others-- or inability to digest what
life in 3D reality presents.
MIND; AUTISM,(4) : agra., kali-br.,

(Synthesis or RU may have more rx--rubrics here are from Complete Millenium)
Lyc is complementary to Anacardium, as listed by Rehman. The issue of
imbalance or disconnection leading to anomalous personal traits (eg. savant
or recall of past-life abilities, or channelling abilities like ability to
play Beethoven piano concertos by heart without studying music; or more
commonly overemphasis on some particular area of cognition or recall) is an
interesting area. I know someone who is likely a high-functioning
aspergers; and also a mathematical genius, but verbally and perceptually
handicapped.
Lycopodium is not necessarily a remedy which can head this way (toward
Savant or other anomalous abilities). That kind of tendency is seen in
people who have not socialized in the same manner as most, and do not
measure the same as most do in cognitive areas which allow autonomous
functioning in the world of humans. Some sort of additional unconscious
abilities come from being separated from communication with others; and from
ones own integrative functioning. It is generally true that finding the
corrective remedy is finding the pathological cluster -- and not what it may
engender in *compensation*. Compensation can be an indicator, if it can be
identified as such, and its opposite used as a symptom, if that can be
confirmed otherwise.
Lycopodium clavatum has a perceptual processing difficulty which I will
write about a little here.
=============
In Lycopodium, the communication between left and right hemispheres is more
or less impaired. Pathologies are more prevalent on the right side
(controlled by left hemisphere); or oscillate between sides of the more or
less disconnected hemispheres.
Boericke Pocket MM:
"...Symptoms characteristically run from right to left, acts especially on
RIGHT side of body..."
==========================
Left hemisphere (rational intellect) tends to be favored.
Boericke Pocket MM:
"...Best adapted to persons intellectually keen, but of weak, muscular
power..."
=============
Lycopodiums tend to not be aware of their intuition, and tend toward the
pole of materialists/literalists. The subtleties of existence may be
missed. The ideas of others that "what you see is what you get" are imbibed
and taken at face value. Stereotypes of what fulfills life, and of
status-quo operation in the world--are lived out. As in Aspergers, Lyc
people "take things literally". The particular type of functional or
lesional pathology of Aspergers can create a mathematical, literalist
interpretation of life at the expense of subtlety and ability to weigh
intuition against rational data input.
In Lyc, the result is an intellect cut off from ability to "weigh itself" by
looking at auditory input from either ear, by gauging the balance between
thought (rational) and feeling (intuition). Aspergers could be a situation
in which the mathematical intellect (A+B=C or literalism) is the focus--even
to savant level in high functioning cases-- while the section for verbal and
judgement is impaired. Data processing/perceptual pathologies in Lycopodium
besides Autism and Aspergers can be Dyslexia:

omit letters in words. Bad at spelling tests, fear of exams, gets

As we know as a truism, Lycopodium is a unified symptomologic analog
(artificial disease) which is far larger in scope than Aspergers (the
disease entity) which has its own more specific miasmatic pattern.
Lycopodium is not specific to a semiologic cluster which represents only
what is Aspergers, though it may overlap with the aspergers cluster--and
that is the situation in which Lyc is corrective or assists.
Lyc is for a particular type of inherited miasmatic configuration and the
traumatic psychosomatic wounding that has accompanied that pattern of
susceptibility. The susceptibility has been created by miasmatic infection
(typically inherited, but which could also come from imperfectly resolved
infectious disease during the life, e.g. Malaria). The miasmatic (blockage
of foreign vital program "cells" which are remnants of past infectious
diseases in lineage create the blockage which begets the interpretation of
life amounting to powerlessness and cowardice typical of Lyc. The
compensation is an attempt to gain power by being a manager or "benevolent
dictator" of others. Or being deceitful or defiant.
Lyc can be an OPPORTUNIST, grabbing "power" where they think they can, and
then hiding away, (since they feel unequipped for, and lack the confidence
for confrontation). They take advantage where they can be unaccountable, or
dominate others in a situation where they are the boss by definition or by
appointment (in job managing others, or as parent). On the other hand, they
kow-tow to anyone or any force or organization they consider "superior" in
power or valence.

==============================
While (if I am not mistaken)- verbal acumen is thought to be a primarily a
left hemisphere function, it cannot be exclusively so. The brain only has
preferences, and nothing is exclusive. Experiments have purportedly shown
that large portions of cerebrum can be missing and intellect survives
(anyone finding such studies I would be interested). Lyc left-hemisphere
dominance and (in some subset of cases) the tendency toward verbal
processing difficulty implies that the right hemisphere must also be
important in verbal acuity and the technical aspects of speaking and writing
using learned codes (i.e. language).
The right hemisphere may be quite operative in a Lyc person. But the
pattern of pathology includes the left hemisphere and right (outgoing) side
of the body-- being cut off in various ways from its counterpart. What goes
in each of the ears cannot be processed by both hemispheres, and whole
sectors of input data are missed--much as in the famous brain experiment of
the cut corpus callosum discussed in most psychology survey textbooks.
This may be what leads to the presumptuousness of the typical Lycopodium:
they think they see the problem or situation in all its subtleties and
colors, but they are missing a portion of the data. They have not been able
to digest all the data. Their cut-off intellect (left hemisphere) asserts a
strongly felt but one-sided conclusion ANYWAY:

The Lyc cannot understand how anyone could question their judgement (which
weakness they want to cover up once they realize their mistake, if they ever

an ego defense or compensation).

Roger Morrison's Desktop Keynotes:
The word which Vithoulkas uses to describe the essence of Lycopodium is
"cowardice". The patient often has marked feelings of inferiority which he
constantly tries to overcome. This liability is faced in two different ways.
I) Inferiority. One type of Lycopodium feels this lack in himself and
becomes very shy, introverted, soft and often becomes rather a loner. This
type has many fears and even phobic states such as agoraphobia or develops
anxiety about health, fear to be alone at night, fears about death and
survival. Often, however, the main fear is of people.
II) Egotism. The other type of Lycopodium takes a sort of
counter-phobic response to this inner lack of confidence. Thus the patient
becomes bombastic, egotistical, bragging, acting extroverted and assertive.
Lycopodium is the main remedy under the rubric, "love of power".
=========================
Lyc bioenergetic blockages involve--(like Anac)--a separateness within
oneself. Anac tends to be more of a separation involving frank expression
of another vital program or consciousness, or will (eg. delusion double or
delusion possessed, contradiction of will etc). But the complementarity of
the two patterns is not surprising.
Lyc perceptual indigestion is likely in one aspect, to be due to a deficit
of communication within the energetic-- and then the nervous - system. This
may be due to the centering of the particular miasmatic susceptibility to
the area of "digestion". The Lyc "wound" appears to be one of the 3rd
"Chakra" or "power chakra", which is also the area of the nerve plexus known
as the "abdominal brain". This corresponds to the area of the umbilicus,
epigastrium, and hypogastrium. Just below the umbilicus is what is called
in Chinese medicine the (phonetically) "D'an T'ien". This is the the power
center of the body --probably the nerve center of the automatic vital force
(life etheric double) *itself*. It has a mind of its own, and knows how to
distribute energy and harmonize the disparate areas of function in the human
automatic vital program, made up of some 14 different organ and spinal axis
energy flows, and the several "strange" flows.
Perhaps the digestion of *everything* is affected in Lycopodium--food, all
externally input data. Perception is in part a "digestive" process when
viewed metaphorically and in terms of vital program, instead of only in
terms of anatomy. Here is a link which discusses a connection between
autism and the GI tract:
http://www.mercola.com/2000/oct/8/autis ... _tract.htm
So, that is a small study of one aspect of Lyc as it may relate to
disconnection from oneself (cf. Anac); perceptual indigestion; and
literalist filter on reality-- all of which may connect it with Aspergers
syndrome and other Autistic disorders.
Best,
Andy
