Thank you for sharing such interesting information about the Yellow Ladies'
Slipper! Interestingly, another member of this beautiful family of orchids,
Northern Lady's Slipper is a flower essence which invokes safety, nurturing
and aids sleep!
I have found three main themes with Cypripedium: one is children with
autistic tendencies/learning-behavioural disabilities who become
over-excitable and will not settle even when they are running on empty (and
their parents too!)
The second is children (and adults) who have a very active, vivid
imagination and tend to go to bed full of ideas and cannot "shut their brain
down".
The third is similar to the case you described: children who go to sleep
fine, then a couple of hours later they wake up for no apparent reason (no
nightmares, fears, illness, etc.) and won't go back to sleep.
I think the common thread in all the cases is some
excitability/over-activity of the mind, which does not necessarily have to
have its roots in fear or distress. There can be an element of intelligence
with an "edge" i.e. beyond the ordinary perception. The child may appear
older/wiser than its years. The "flavour" of the remedy is a "spark" of
some sort which can often times be seen in autistic children when you least
expect it.
Hope this is helpful - another thought that occurred to me, is to give the
kid some avena sativa in tincture form - if the parents feel she is not
eating enough... it is such a wonderful soothing supporting remedy!
