Dr. J.R - you are absolutely correct it is an old european 'cure' for kidney stones and to alkalize the body. My grand mother's recipe
drink the water that you used to boil the potatoes in but only right after it has cooled do not save it for hours or days.

The potato water does not dissolve the kidney stones; it contains the alkaloid solanine, similar but weaker to atropine, that creates relaxation of the ureters, allowing the stone to progress fast to the bladder and relieves the pain by stopping the spasms.

While cutting the banana tree, you should cut the area on the top and throw away. Now cut the stem from the root. This stem should be peeled. The central thick portion is extremely fibrous but not layered. This is easily identifiable. The top portion will be less fibrous
The picture will explain everything to you.

interesting but that isn't a 'cure' for kidney stones - that just helps the current situation. The cure would be what helped the vital force to not produce them to begin with.

Well Sheri - if you alkalize the body the likely hood of getting kidney stones or tartar on your teeth is reduced, so the vital force can do its job - don't you agree?

If you ever had a kidney stone coming through, you would know the excruciating pain it comes with.....you do whatever it takes to stop it, deal with the deeper issues later.

I understand totally as have witnessed it in others. But just wanting to clarify that this isn't a cure so that future ones don't occur, it is certainly help with the process of passing the stones.

You then press the juice out of this core section? And drink as is? How large a section do you need for one helping and how often do you take it? How long would it stay in the fridge or do you make fresh each time?
Thank you so much for the explanation. I am very interested because my dad gets kidney stones and I have a slew of banana trees.
Thanks again

I do not agree.
The body's pH needs to be correct not too alkaline or too acid.
"Alkalizing" is dangerous unless you KNOW there is metabolic acidosis.
Nor does it change the chances of plaque on teeth. People with metabolic alkalosis also have tartar. It has more to do with the foods eaten than any pH issues.

Do not "alkalize" or mess around with body pH.
Eat healthy instead.

Namaste,
Irene

Yes, I can attest to that. Spent 3 or 4 days in the hospital, took about 12 hours to pass the stone, they gave me morphine and after the stone passed my blood pressure was 60/40 so got plunked into a bed and was told not to even try to get up.

Second stone, years later while an advanced student of homeopathy, Had a homeopath at the time who had a rather rigid rule, he absolutely demanded that his patients not take any homeopathic remedies on their own.
The pain started coming up and was pretty bad, when the pain got to an eight out of a possible ten and I felt the nausea start, that was it, rule or no rule I took a 30c of berberis (dry dose) and put the 200C remedy bottle in my pocket in case I needed it, Oh, yes I did, the wave of pain started getting worse, I popped a 200c pellet, the pain wave went down as fast as it came on and that was it!! Thank G-d, I have not had a problem since (about 20 years now).
The pain is absolutely horrible. Was once told the pain was from spasms of the ureters and that berberis (in my case) relaxed them so the stone could pass easily.
