IMHO - it is not advisable to come off prescribed medication of this type before the (in this case thyroid) medical markers have improved with homeopathy and it is not something that I would be comfortable doing. I also feel it would be frowned upon by S of H.

All I can say then is that I would have had a very small practice if I hadn't work with 100's people who came to me already on some form of medication. Hopefully you will be able to get a reliable sx picture from her from the point of time before she started taking the thyroxine - because without the simillimum you won't cure this. Medical markers will only cite the work of the thyroxine probably? How will you know for sure that homeopathy is curing whilst she is taking this.

I will know that homeopathy has worked when the symptoms she came for have improved :-)

Interesting, Venkat. But why no hot water? For all liver problems?
Theresa
I would suggest no coffee, no tea, no white sugar, no fried meat or
anything fried, lots of raw vegetables, green leaves, fruits, moderate
milk along with the constitutional. ( no hot water drinking)

Ok - nor will ! :-)
I think we have established that I won't ask patients to stop taking some what I see as vital prescription medication e.g. thyroxine before giving a remedy and you will :-) I think we are on a sticky wicket legally if we do.

Maybe it could be useful to specifically ask what symptoms led to her being put on it, and what has changed since she began it?

Hypothyroidism itself could be the cause of this, as has been discussed. Also the palpitations that occur along with this look like involving the thyroid axis.

Have you thought of other carbs - Mag.carb and Strontium carb?

In the same vein I have seen Carb.sulph ( has both carbon and sulphur) work wonders in many kinds of neuropathies and pricking and burning in the limbs. I would not want to forget Graphites ( and Kali iod ) in thyroid conditions with burning.
Chamo, Sanguinaria have burning prominently as well.

Many kinds of vascular constriction could cause burning - including due to smoking. Which makes me think of Tabacum, Lobelia etc. given the palpitations as well.

How is her sweat? Weight? Menses? Is she active or sluggish? Reaction of burning to various modalities? Position, application of cold vs warmth, postural etc?

Oh that !

This is an old understanding in Ayurvedic circles that hot water increases biliousness.

I think it is understanding effect from the cause. Hot water raises body temperature. So does biliousness. Maybe that is the reason they classified.

But I would love to hear from Hahnemannian 2002 who has studied and worked in Siddha and Ayurveda.
