Hi Hennie,

Of course it may work the way you say - or any number of other ways.

But in order to get the cell(s) to do what it wants, the virus has to
be there. It has to come from somewhere. This coming from somewhere is
what we have been talking about.

Regards

Luise

I think it is possible that the thingies we call virusses actually could
be something else, at least in a number of cases.

OK - As far as Homs are concerned - does it matter what they are?
We are only interested in the type of SX caused by them.
Can we use the general term - Materia peccans - as used by the Master!

Hi Hennie,
I'm curious to hear the rest of that thought?
Are you talking about mis-classifying based on appearance, or something
else?

Dunno, as an harassed cell (by pesticides, radiation, poisoned food,
whatever) I might need to excrete some packages of damaged DNA or other
stuff I want to get rid of. These could look like virusses while being
excretion products of irritated cells.

Okay, so based on appearance, I think you're saying?
No doubt that could be. It doesn't seem like the results would be
uniform enough to *replace* other observations; or to apply to large
observed populations... Remember what makes something (be classed as)
a "virus" is not primarily its appearance, but its behavior...

I don't mean to say it is either this or that (thing almost never are),
and with the apparent blanks in the virus approach, there's no good
reason to assume it is the only valid way to think.
