Re: Hal Huggins Website - Root Canals
Sheri, thanks for this link. It makes clear that no amount of endodontic retreatment is going to arrest the huge numbers of bacteria which thrive in and around the dead tooth. All of a sudden the option of retreatment looks like a very poor choice for me; I’d rather go all the way and get it out. Now to find someone…

Dr Paul Rubin in north Seattle has a wonderful person he refers to up in Mukilteo (near the ferry crossing) who extracted one of my mom's teeth - she had no pain after..........maybe just my mom. But their office was excellent and he treated her very well.
That is my opinion too.
Good luck! How's your summer there?

Re: Hal Huggins Website - Root Canals
It is fictional however.
Nobody actually did any research reported there - you will find ZERO research refs there - and nobody actually owns up to writing that drivel either.
They refer to statements they anonymously CLAIM to be by people in 1910 and 1920, not to currect practice involving clear as day xrays during root canals to ensure the process was correct, as is done today.
As for their anonymous theories about bacteria (which if true would apply to all teeth with or without root canals) , they make excellent fiction.
It is only true that infections occur often. It is likely aslso true that people with chronic diseases will often have infections going somewhere, such as a root canal.
But that does not mean a root canal can not be done properly, just that it often is not.
SO I am not suggesting root canals are safe.
But they sure beat being toothless, and they DO need a good endodontist to do or to fix after one got messed up so as to allow infection.
They TRULY need an expert endodontist to do them or fix them, and they TRULY need the tip sealing I have discussed. The bacteria do NOT get to the area under the tooth to make infections UNLESS they go through the root that is improperly sealed.
The fictION about "squirting" basteria around is just that!
INSTEAD:
Here is a link to a report on how badly the average root canal goes wrong, AND WHY, but THIS is real research with real authors in the CURRENT year of 2015. It has no assumptios from statments made in 1015 by peple who have no name as author and who hae NO research to quote as Sheri provided.

It is always amazing to me how gullible people are about reading anonymous bumf on the internet instead of always looking for context, author name and qualifications of the author.
Any idiot can write anonymous junk on the internet.
There is nobody there to question the nonexistent author when it proves to be rubbish or to do harm.
Stick with people who have a name and are qualified to speak on the subject and who speak in the current life context and SIGN their work.
The only clear thing is that they talk a lot of nonsense.
That is complete invention and is baloney.
It is not easy to get a root canal right and seal it properly at the tip, with no voide before that etc (takes a LOT of practice so needs a specialist not a dentist) but those that are right, give NO trouble, and you can eat nuts instead of being nuts:-)
Ginny I do not know your age, but I can assure you that if you toss out perfectly workable teeth now, and plan to live much longer you wil be sorry to be toothless later as a result of reading anonymous internet nonsense.
Namaste,
Irene
