Hello all,
I've had several families bring their children in because of swollen tonsils & adenoids, which restrict breathing. Basically the kids snore.
The children respond nicely to well-chosen remedies for other symptoms, but the tonsils & adenoids remain swollen, the breathing still restricted.
The parents freak out and schedule the surgery.
Ideas on how to get those tonsils & adenoids to reduce in size?
Thanks in advance,
Marybeth

Hello Marybeth,

Long ago I had a tonsil operation.
By self discovering, I recognized that for those with tonsils problems, they are not allowed to say what is right for themselves.
So it is dangerous to say something and the tonsils swell.

When this is recognized, there must be a homeopathic remedy!

For all: the one has to speak up from his soul.

Hi Aham,

So how do you get the child to speak from the soul using homeopathy?

Paul

See if eliminating milk makes a difference? And other foods allergies.

Dear Marybeth

I think you need to take an 'acute' case and deal with the presenting symptoms arising from the swollen tonsils and inflamed adenoids.
For example all the pains relating to swallowing while eating/drinking or empty swallowing and especially if the pain extends anywhere like to the ears.

What makes it better or worst and what the child wants to do while the tonsils are inflamed?

How does their temperature behave. Is it steady or one minute they are hot and next minute they are cold and shivering (merc)?

What is their facial colour?

Any perspiration?

Do they have any taste in their mouth and is there any odour from their mouth?

Is there any expectoration and colour, taste and nature (sticky, frothy etc)?

And then finally what the tonsils and tongue look like?
How the symptoms develop? Slowly or quickly?

What was happening before the symptoms developed, Has the weather changed?

Any change is their Stool, urination, sleep etc?
And do not forget the famous question "What else?".
Good luck

Soroush

Hi Paul,

this is a good and very interesting question for classical homeopaths.
And I hope also to find an answer here.

In my "work" I found ways.
In general, I can say that this child should have time provided by loving parents, to say it.
Both the parents and the child should..........TAKE.......time.

In love

Swollen tonsils & adenoids

Give the immune system a boost - Echinacea p., vitamin C, without much
fear of overdosing.

Interesting observation, Aham. Years ago I had a case of a young woman with "kissing tonsils" (i.e., so swollen they touched). The remedy she needed was Kali-mur., and she spoke out so forcefully after it that her mom called me to complain.
Peace,
Dale

Dear friend
Kent who never used specifics made an exception in case of adenoids and he used Tuberculinum in a routine sort of way and claimed he had cured more than a hundred cases with tuberculinum alone.

As a rule in case of tonsils the size does not matter so much what is important is that there should be no inflammation or suppuraation in the tonsils. Once that is taken care of the size slowly reduces but that takes time. So the patient should be made to understand that you will take care of the diseases tonsil and as far as size is concerned it will go away slowly once the tonsil is healed.

If the patient has come with an acute attack of tonsillitis you might need to first treat it as an acute condition, the baryta salts and merc salts are more often indicated here though remedies such as hepar, phytolacca, Gingko biloba etc. may be indicated.

After the acute condition is over you will need to give a course of constitutional treatment. By constitutional treatment I mean what Hahnemann would call an anti-psoric treatment rather than what we understand today as one remedy that is a cure-all for all diseases past and future.

In case Bar-c gets indicated again and again you may clear up the case with a dose of Psorinum.

In case of adenoids sulph, thuja, the iodium salts and tuberculinum are more often indicated. Though in one frustrating case agraphis came to the rescue.

Best regards
Elham

Hi Dale,

I am not a classical homeopath.
What is Kali-mur and what is the hormonal aspect of it?

Too it is for me not clear, whether using vitamin C is homeopathic or comes it out of the area between allopathy and homeopathy?

It is my experience, that the parents overrule their children by which all kinds of illnesses appear.
Of course they do this out of their own pains.
In your case it should be a necessary th cure too the parents, because they complain.

Love
